Like a sound system that fills the room with audibles swarming in every direction. This massive stout overtakes your senses with flavor & aromas of dark chocolate, molasses, roast, smoke, earth & wood, It’s heavy I know, but you have to drop that bass every once in a while if you really wanna get down.

July 2016: RBESG 2016 in Barcelona. On tap at the Garage. Black colour. Very malty aroma and flavour, a bit unfresh, too moderate hops. Not much smoke though. Did not blow my socks off this one.

12oz bottle pours with a viscous looking deep dark body that supports a near tight mocha colored head. Nice looking beer. The aroma offers up chocolate malts, malt balls, some dark roasted malts and a mild molasses sweetened spicy oak. The taste, oh my. This is smooth, supple, rich and deep and wonderful. There’s a lot going on here but it is well integrated. I get molasses sweetened dark roasted malts, chocolate malts, a dash of burnt malts, a little marshmallow and then more chocolate. To midway a faint soft smokiness and a sliver of spicy oak bubble briefly to the surface. Into the finish the roasty to burnt malts grow amid a sea of chocolate goodness. As it warms the spicy oak grows. Terrific experience.

Imperial Wheat Stout? Holy Guacamole, gotta try it! OK: pours deep coffee sable with a very thick and rather persistent sepia head. Aroma has firm notes of molasses, chocolate, roast wheat and smoky wood with a hint of quality coffee. Bold flavor swirls notes of smoky wheat, molasses, quality coffee, chocolate and charcoal over the tongue in a delightful and subtly sweet sonata of tastes. Mouthfeel has firm and viscous body, and a fair bit of fizz, leaving a smoky and earthy finish. Surround this one with your tummy!
