A traditional German Roggenbier that is similar in flavor to a Bavarian Hefeweizen but is made with malted rye instead of malted barley. The rye lends a spicy flavor to this lighter bodied, fruity ale.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
Brown in appearance, nice initial off white head, fairly weak retention for the style, ok lacing. The aroma was coffee and some light roasted notes, not quite smokey. The flavor was coffee and some roast, and a mouthfull of bitter hops at the end. Finishes somewhat clean, no lingering aftertastes, yet the hops were flavorless. No pine, no floral, no citrus notes at all. I don't know much about Palisade hops, but I'm guessing they don't have a lot of character for aroma or flavor. Mouthfeel was light-moderate.
