I forgot this brew in my fridge because I waited for the right moment to test it. Comes in a Champagne looking bottle and decided to have it after some Champagne with Lilihel. Tried it in a Champagne glass at first and then rated it in a lager glass. Pours a yellow-golden colour with a big white creamy head that stays a long time and leaves decent lacing. The cork lists 7 (then a cymbol) and 11. The best before date says 07.09.08. The nose is warm with alcohol and the malt is grainy with hints of honey and bananas. Creamy mouthfeel but still not much stickiness. The higher alcohol percentage does not burn. The flavours reminds me of the aromas, with grainy malts, notes of bananas, alcohol, mild hops and a metallic touch. This is like a creamier and stronger Stella Artois, but still nothing too amazing (or close to Champagne - even with the bubbles). Was nice to celebrate the 640th anniversary of Stella (which will never happen again... ha, ha).

THis was a gift from a friend in France. It wasn't a bad beer, but not something I want to try again. It's a very pale gold colour, with a frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, with some good hoppish hints. The flavour is slightly sweet, and grainy.

corked 750ml sparkling wine bottle ; Decants a light gold lager with a large white cap that reduces quickly, fair lacing, heavily carbonated. Aromas are pleasant grainy, a bit sweet, some fruity tones and grassy hop twang. A bit thin malts break down a bit too soon to reveal a watery alcoholic character and a sweetish/dray finish with an alcohol burn. Not all that well put together and certainly not my type of lager.

640th Year anniversary! WOW! What a special numerical celebration! To mark this incredible occasion, and to coincide with my 490th review, the fact that it is 1:49:33 pm AND the 22nd day since I bought a new belt, I've decided to drink this beer in a special drinking device called a "glass".
Poured out a standard yellow gold brew with ample effervesence and a pretty big soft white crown... too bad that this didn't last too long. The aroma was very lagerish with grain notes, light fruit and some hops. Taste was decent enough but nothing spectacular - bready malts, mildly sweet flavour and not much else. You can taste the alcohol but at 7.2%, this is not a problem. Mouth feel was nice and, well, lager like. Is this really worth 3.5? not compared to the general population of my reviews but as a strong lager it's probably worth even more - I just can't give it the marks since it was so boring. Biere forte d'Exception? Hardly. It's a good strong lager though compared to the rest of my market. Nothing much here to get you to buy more. Stella does not stand for stellar.

This beer, other than the great golden appearance and fine aroma, sucked. I actually prefer regular Stella to this, which ain't sayin' much. Very bitter. too bitter actually.

Golden bubbly body that is very champagne like with a large fluffy cap with good retention there is some ropy lacing, I guess for a strong lager this looks good. Aroma is a strange lemony banana with some soap, malts are grassy and there is just a hint of mild skunk and a bit of old barn. Very malty flavour with a hint banana lemon taste, no trace of any of the high alcohol content, finishes sweet with no after taste. Very carbonated and bubbly, this kind of burns the throat when you swallow but the body its self is rather thick and creamy. For the style this is actually pretty good but its nothing I would really want to buy again for the price. Marks seem way to high but for the style it worth this.

Bottle: Poured a light golden yellow color ale with a big bubbly pure white head with average retention but no lacing; very champagne like in appearance. Aroma of light sweet malt notes is very weak overall. Taste is a dominated by sweet notes with load of bubbles; again very Champaign-like. While I don’t think this is earth shattering I didn’t find it as bad as some of the previous reviews.
