Big hop, big malt, big beer. One of the most aggressive beers ever released in Utah, Hop Rising a double India Pale Ale, clocks in at 85 IBU's and 9% alcohol. We use three different malts to create enough flavor to perfectly balance three varieties of hops, then, because we can't help ourselves, we dry-hop it; resulting in an amazing two pounds of hops per barrel! The combination of robust malty flavors and huge hop bitterness provide a well-balanced beer; a hop lover's dream.

12 oz can. Pours hazy reddish gold with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is very sweet and sugary slightly rotten fruit with some caramel malt and resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet sugary crystal malts, funky tropical fruit and some resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, odd combination of sweet sugary crystal malt, funky fruit and some resiny hops.

Rust color pour with a medium white head. Not much lace on the glass. Floral notes and subtle hopiness in the taste. Enjoyed this beer very much. Alcohol was well hidden.

    12oz bottle -

This isn't a small beer in any way, but somehow it drinks like a pale ale which is dangerous...for me at least. A really peachy aroma, some light green grapes providing some of the sweetness. As it warms, zesty citrus comes to note. Flavor doesn't wallop you over the head with hops (even though I like them too), but instead it's a balanced approach here. Melon flavors combining with grass, caramel and pine sap. Really a nice beer.

Clear orange yellow with off-white foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is hoppy. Taste is nice bitter beer, little sweet, sugary. Aftertaste is bittersweet. (Salt Lake City 201308)

better than average and at first outstanding. Sweet and citrusy with hints of pine. I cant believe this one is 9%, especially considering its out of Utah where beers usually dont go above 4.5%. How is this possible. Still what also makes it harder to believe is that it somehow levels out in strength and flavor as it warms up. Is this synthahol?

Well hidden 9%. Hard to call a DIPA, very light bodied I find, that said the bitter is well balanced against a nice malt base. Soapy lasting carbonatino and lacing. Watery brown sugar and nice american hops. Smooth and drinkable.

This one from jerrymorrison form a recent trade: nearly clear burnt orange pour with a tight short cream head and sheets of beautiful lacing throughout. Nice pineapple and light grapefruit hops aroma with a very good dose of malts present. Taste is hops forward, grapefruit and pineapple, not massively bitter but still big, offset and balanced nicely from a malt sweetness. Very nice IIPA from Utah and Jerry - thanks.

Not too shabby, a decent iipa from Utah. Aromas and flavors of pine, herbs, some wood and alcohol, the malts balance out nicely. Not very bitter, or big but overall it's ok.

Nice beers coming out of Utah! Picked this one up at the package store in St. George. Mildly bitter, less then i would imagine for an IIPA. But nonetheless, balanced, rich and dank. Nice abv punch, plenty of dark cherry fruit. A little bit of apple, smoke and woodiness near the finish. Great beer.
