Bomber from Haggen (Meridian). Clear pour, darker gold, not much head. Not much aroma either, maybe some citrus, pine, and hop, but very little of anything. Could this be a rogue bottle? Mouthfeel only average. Flavour was okay, but just okay: a but of grapefruit, a bit of pine, maybe some caramel. Should've been way better. Not terrible, but I expected more, certainly given the price this should've delivered more.

Liked Big Daddy, didn't care for Vendetta IPA, so not sure what to expect here. Overall, not too shabby (though I still prefer Big Daddy). Big, resinous, pine sap and citrus. Malt heavy too with a big body and a lasting finish.

I'm pretty sure that my brother has handed me this a time or two at Spike's in San Luis Obispo...nice to have found one to enjoy outside of a noisy bar. Super thick, but soft and silky, head on this that leaves foamy blotches all over the glass. A bright, translucent metallic orange color. Reminds me of orange transparency filters...like for an overhead projector or a camera. Ever so tiny streams of bubbles rising out of this one. Smooth and even flavor, with some pine hops slightly edging out the caramel underbelly. This is a great IIPA; perhaps my favorite in the style. Seek it out!

Pours burnt copper, short lived head, faint lacing on glass. Taste was nicely bitter, fair amount of grapefruit, leading to malt with nicely bitter hoppy after tones. A bit pricey brew, but nice flavor so could be revisited in the future.

Not so great DIPA, all alcohol and bitterness. The mark of a good IPA or DIPA is hop flavor, not hop bitterness. Speakeasy’s Double Daddy misses the mark in this respect. It’s a strong beer at 9.5% abv and a bitter beer, but somehow, the hop bitterness doesn’t even do a particularly good job at masking the alcohol. They really have a lot to work on with this beer. It’s probably one of my least favorite DIPAs or IPAs out of around 100 reviewed so far. There’s a caramel malt backbone in there somewhere, but the bitterness and alcohol mask it nearly entirely. I’ve given this beer a few chances now, and I’m still quite disappointed. I really want to like Speakeasy as a hometown brewery, but I simply haven’t been a fan of their beers thus far. This beer is pretty middle of the road in terms of appearance, which is about the nicest thing that I can say about as compared to the style.

Pours a near perfect amber color with some cloudiness in the goblet. Intense floral hop aroma, not citrus as expected, almost a slight hint of Belgian yeast smell. Big floral hop taste, almost a honey-sticky sweetness. Nice hop taste but the overall flavor was just not right. I was ok finishing the rest of the glass but I'd never want another.

While waiting for the bus I ran back a while to Oliver Twist. Orange, hazy colour with small white head. Aroma is strongly hopped, and slightly acidic. Flavour is hopped (acidic) and also the alcohol shows, but balances the bitterness up a bit. Decent Imperial IPA.

Poured a amber color with okay head and medium lacing. Aroma was resinous, grapefruits and something else. Flavor was strong grapefruits malts some hops. by far not my favorite dIPA.

Poured a pale copper to amber color with an ok initial head. A few rings of lacing, but only sporadically, leaving want for more. A couple chunks at the bottom of the pour. The aroma was of grapefruits, melons, light pine/resinous. Flavor was grapefruits, caramel malty, and some sloppy pine/resinous flavors with even a touch of sloppy floral notes. Not the cleanest of dIPAs. Mouthfeel wasn't sticky at all, a little dry for a dIPA. Certainly bitter. Mediocre overall.
