A rust colored medium bodied ale with a white head. I could smell and taste spice(cinnamon and allspice). Unfortunately since this beer was so heavily spiced I was unable to taste the malts. Not a beer I would recommend to anyone.

Poured a clear copper to ruby color with a nice initial head. Good retention. All downhill from there. Tons of ginger in the aroma, and ginger starts to turn me off. Man, the flavor was all ginger, totally reminded me of Great Lakes' Christmas Ale, and that isn't a good thing. Ginger, cardamum (bottle didn't mention it, though), cinammon, a big spicey mess, no idea what the malt base tasted like. Mouthfeel wasn't bad, slightly acidic, boy the flavor was a mess. Too much spice.

If memory serves me correctly, I seem to recall that I was not real impressed with Sly Fox's Oktoberfest brew. However, the tide as swung in the opposite direction for their Christmas Ale. This holiday treat is assertive, spicy, and very flavorful. The white head is thin, but leaves a small amount of lace around the glass rim. The actual liquid is a festive amber bronze color. Scents of cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as ginger notations waft from the confines, making spirits bright. The palate is clean, fresh, malty and sweet, with a nice lightly dry hoppy finish. It was very similar to Great Lakes Christmas Ale. A very lovely way to celebrate the yuletide. Merry Christmas!

This ale pours a deep brown color from a cork finish 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. A medium bodied ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of brown sugar and molasses flavors, as well as pumpkin pie spices minus the pumpkin. Malty and fairly sweet but kind of balanced by the spices. Lively carbonation. Nice Christmas beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Pour a dark amber color, with a nice foamy head. Aroma was just like christmas, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor was good slight hoppyness with spices. Good bee.

First off, I typically do NOT like these seasonal spiced beers...but this was really good. Poured a beautiful amber color with a nice foamy head. A perfect balance of spices, malt and hops. Not over the top like so many others of its kind. Cinnamon and other spices were a warm reminder of the holiday seasons...this stuff is like Xmas in a bottle! Rerate Nov 2006 - Not nearly as good as last year's version. Spices seem much more harsh with much more cinnamon and coriander. Less subtle and less hard to finish. Had to downgrade this one a bit.

Sly Fox Christmas Ale didn't dissappoint. It had the traditional cinnamon and nutmeg spices blended perfectly with a smooth ale for a combination that was smooth, drinkable, and most importantly enjoyable. If you get the chance to try this ale jump on it. I know I will

Poured a copper color with no head but alittle bit of lacing. Cinnamon, nutmeg aroma. Sweet and spicy cinnamon, and very mild hop taste and an average mouthfeel.
