One bottle this you Know why the Germans have the Purity Code..I have brewed this style many times in my home brew days (without the salt water) and poured em out only to have the drain gag em back up... Commonly know as Gose, this brew is interesting? Nice way of saying ya oughta try it but if you don't all the better...

Pours somewhat hazy solar yellow with a thick, though effervescent, eggshell head. Aroma presents yeasty, malty and pear tones. Flavor delivers sour pear, fresh banana, crisp malty and subtle yeasty tones and a shy hint of lemon, quite refreshing. Mouthfeel features decent body and some fizz. A ray of sunshine on a dreary day.

I enjoyed this one. Wasn't as smooth and crisp as some of the other Gose's that I've tried...but gotta figure the price was real good and this brewer is starting to become semi-Macro the way Samuel Adams has gotten. Sampled in the spring when the weather started to get hot. Flavor is salty with an ok blending of grapefruit and prickly pear. Not one I'd rush to again, but worth the try.

I had this beer at Clawson's in Beaufort, NC. This was a nice twist on the Gose style. The style was represented well with the salt and sourness; however, the addition of the cactus leaves and grapefruit gave the beer a white wine flavor. Very nice beer.

A bright golden colored beer with a small, two fingered soapy textured, off white head rising briefly above. A lemon nose. Lemony taste. This would have worked so much better if there was more funkiness. Watered body.

Pours a pale yellow color with a bright white head, lots of carbonation, no lacing, no head retention, has a slight haze. The aroma is of wheat, hay, hint of citrus like grapefruit, pear, no alcohol on the nose, very faint aromas, as the beer warms the salt does come through more on the aroma. The taste is citrus with a mix of lemon and grapefruit tartness, touch of pear in the middle, finish is semi-salty, it's sweeter than it is sour, aftertaste is of pear, apples, light sweet fruits, as the beer warms there is a noticeable green flavor from the cactus. The mouthfeel is light crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish, lots of carbonation.

Want a nasty infected flavor with salt added usually reserved for Belgian sours? Here is the German version made by those kings of headaches Sierra Nevada. got to hand it to em, this taste like the original which is bad...in a good way. I appreciate Belgian sours in Flanders mind you, and this one is well uh just not my bier. One swig of this swill you know why the German Purity laws came about! Real barf, in a good way, try it? once? sicklybrau at best...
