“Fifty Shades of Gris” Imperial Gruit Aged in Pinot Gris barrels Fifty Shades of Gris is a barrel-aged 2016 edition of imperial gruit ale, Grandmaster O.G., a past silver medal winning beer at the Canadian Brewing Awards. Five months in pinot gris barrels have imparted a wine-like character to this imperial-strength gruit made with Labrador Tea, bog myrtle, thyme, and yarrow. Fifty Shades of Gris pours hazy orange with a white foam. Aromas are of lemon curd, with subtle oak and white wine. Herbal thyme flavour melds with zesty, lemony, vino notes. The finish is dry and slightly tannic. INGREDIENTS Local spring water, organic barley malts, organic hops, Labrador tea, organic bog myrtle, organic thyme, organic yarrow, brewer's yeast.

Thanks to PaleAleRider for bringing this one back from the brewery. Celebrating Victoria Day weekend and my 100th review from Beau's. Pours a slightly hazed golden-amber colour with a beautiful, almost creamy warm cap, long lasting and adding some creamy lacing. Oh wow... amazing thyme aromas over the sweet fruity malts that give out rye notes. Flavours are so well-blended with the lighter herbs, fruitiness of the pinot gris barrels, tea and malts. A nice mildly dry mouthfeel with a slight bitter finish. This is so good!!
