Salt of the Earth is our play on a gose. Not to be confused with a gueze, the gose style originated in Leipzig, Germany. It is a wheat beer traditionally brewed with salt and coriander as well as lactic bacteria. Clearly not following the Reinheitsgebot, we figured we’d knock it up a level by using an addition of truffle salt in our gose, adding an earthy and funky element to the aroma and flavor certain to tantalize all of the foodies out there.

what a treat, always have enjoyed a Gose and with it being 95 outside- perfect! .. . Pours a deep gold, very good foam and lacing .. . such an interesting blend of flavours from dough, light herbal notes, sea salt and pretzel with a big pure truffle presence, so unique.. quite a dry beer, not as refreshing as you would expect but amazingly fun and unique- this is just another reason why i love craft beers .. .
Well, he’s kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace “accidentally” with “repeatedly” and replace “dog” with “son.” -

Sampled on 6/25/2011. This traditional ale/gose pours a slightly hazy yellow gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized frothy foamy off white head, with long lasting retention and nice lacing. The aroma is herbal, salt, fruity, wheat and sweet. A medium bodied gose. The malts are cereal, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and spicy. Very lively carbonation. The truffle salt is very evident in this beer, adds a nice touch of herbal flavors. Finish is fairly dry and nicely crisp. The salt takes a little getting used to, but it works well in this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch salty.
