Here in the sun-drenched fields of California’s North Valley, the black soil is rich with promise. In winter, rows of barley seed are laid in the freshly tilled dirt. In spring, trellises are set for hops. From our fields comes a remarkable homegrown ale, made with organic wet hops and barley grown at our brewery here in Chico and one of the few estate-made ales produced anywhere in the world! This Estate Ale is rich with the flavors of the valley—featuring hops with earthy, grapefruit-like flavors and layered spicy aromas and barley with mild sweetness and smooth, toasted flavors. Together, these crops grow alongside the brewery to make a truly unique brew. Enjoy!

Nice nose mild flowery hops and sweet malt notes. Pours a small head that is light caramel colored and long lasting with little lace over a a very cloudy copper/brown body. Really nice mouth, medium bodied, slippery and tingly, carbonation spot on. I am digging this flavor profile. Its IPAish but also hints at a brown ale. Presents with a malty sweetness very earthy and finishes moderately bitter and very dry. The alcohol is present in the end and warming. Winner Winner !

It pours a solid and shiny copper with a thick and cloud-like white/light-yellow head and very copious and thick lacing. The aroma is of caramel malts, fresh hops, oranges and grapefruit, bitterness and tart, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, somewhat silky, and rich. Flavors of the caramel malts, hops, grapefruit and oranges, peppers, tart and bitterness, and spiciness. Excellent .. very fresh and one of the better IPAs I've tried in awhile...

Sort of pricey for the final experience, but you know that you are getting quality organic ingredients here. A very smooth drinkable IPA. Feels light bodied, almost like a small-beer. Does not feel like 6.7%. On the clear side for an IPA...not that cloudy/malty-murky kind. More about the hops on this one. Good enough to try and like the sample, but not great enough to purchase again. Rather go in the Stone or Lagunita direction next time.

Get out your homegrown, it's clippin' time! Sierra Nevada has never dissapointed me. One of the few breweries that I always count on no matter what. In my tulip it's a bright clear orange. Huge frothy head that keeps on rising. Not much lace trace except where I was sippin. Aroma is dizzle. Herbaceous but fruitacious as well. Bubblegum, jelly belly and bananna. Thank you Sierra Nevada!

2011 edition from Belmont Station Portland, dark amber, velvty red head. Nice clean hop aroma, like a more complicated grapefruit than the average IPA. Malts are tasty and dry, really compliment the primarily bitter hops. I just burped and picked up something like icing sugar, but I did eat cake a few hours ago... Head retention and lacing are unparalleled. Gains some earthyness as it warms. Big body, lasting finish.

Brewed with ingredients that are found on the brewer's land. A cloudy golden-orange pour with a thick creamy head. Pine, grass, and citrus are the primary aromas with the flavour being along the same lines. The grapefruit really comes through here.

Light amber/copper color. Semi-hazy with an off white head with a hue of orange. Burnt orange and yellow highlights adorn the bottom of the glass. A very strong head, head retention and lacing. A mix between a soapy and a creamy looking head. A nice presence of grapefruit citrus. Some orange in there. A bit of pine. Smells very floral. Very well balanced in the nose. As the beer warmed, the biscuit aromas really started to shine. The taste provided a nice, pronounced bitterness of grapefruit. Again, a touch of sticky pine. Orange citrus is coming forth nicely. Once more, as it warmed, the bready/biscuit flavors pulled through, but it still maintained that hop bite. Medium mouthfeel that is very dry. Almost chewy in the mouthfeel. I like it!!! Even feels a bit sticky. This brew leaves enormous amounts of flavor on the palate. Outstanding, wonderful mouthfeel. I may still be tasting this in the morning. I don't have a tremendous amount of experience with "hoppy" beers, but this one was outstanding. Probably has more hop characteristics than any I have tried before. I really, really enjoyed this. With the large bottle, i really got to savor it and experience the changes. Easily drinkable and worth a try. The alcohol is non-existant, so watch out!!! Man, I have really had some outstanding beers lately.

My local had these priced at $4.99 which, evidently, is quite the steal. I didn't notice much difference between this and the Northern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop but I give this bonus points based on the fact that all the ingredients are grown on the premises.

Aroma is strong and quite hoppy with a hint of grapefruit. It pours a clear, beautiful, slightly coppery amber with a thick, fluffy, fine-bubbled off-white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Flavor is generously hoppy, almost evergreen, and minimally bitter with an undertone of grapefruit. Texture is quite fizzy and edgy, leaving behind a nice tingle.

nice brew. maybe not worth the elite price tag, but seeing as how i didn't pay that much... all around full bodied, smooth, and full flavored hoppy brew. spicy and citrus. well done.
