After reading a bunch of negative reviews, I am thinking that Seadog took out the "Old East", and just calls this "IPA" now. I couldn't find anything labeled just IPA, so am reviewing it here....saw a few on ratebeer.com did the same, as there is no straight IPA listed there. The bottle just says "IPA" and the label is a little different...but it has to be the same. I did notice the aroma to be off, like wet/old dog. Even before readin the reviews, I said "This is not an IPA". More like a off balanced-pale or extra at best.....not quite a copper. Not much citrus...just did not work for me. Was not horrible, I'd say is still drinkable. Just does not seem to live up to what it represents.

'Old' is an apt description for this awful entry into the beer world. Colour is a bit too clear for an IPA. The aroma is a bit weird with no noticeable malt or hop character, more like old rotting vegetables. Flavour is just as bad.

A beer of the month club entry for May/June 2011. Pours a typical hazy golden color. Flavor is a light duty happy typical IPA bitterness. All in all nothing to get too excited about. If it was local to me then I would purchase from time to time.

Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks ER). Deep amber colour with small white head. Aroma is fruits, floral hops, some bready malts as well as some slight parfumed soap. Flavour is floral hops, some herbs, mild wooden notes as well as some bready malts. Something of a hybrid between ESB and IPA.

A murky orange brown colored ale. A small foamy off-white head rises above. Not much hang time leaving a nice soapy cap atop the beer. Sugary nose with subtle piney hops. The taste is in the hops. Pine, lighter citrus hops dominate the taste. Moderate, smooth body makes this a good drink. .

This poured a copper color with a moderate off white head. A faint caramel and citrus aroma. The flavor is rather malty for an IPA with some bready notes and caramel. It also contains some lemons and grapefruit. This one is more sour than it is bitter. A slight bitter finish. This seems to be more in the british mold for an IPA. Overall this was a pretty good beer but not a world class IPA.

This IPA pours an orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head, with long lasting lacing. The aroma is caramel malts and sweet, with a touch of floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and very sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. This one is more of an English style IPA, more malt than hops. The hops are more in the background and could be a little bolder. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours a lighter golden-orange colour with a decent sized white floral head. it had a nice crisp flavor, citrus fruit is nice, with soft evidence of floral notes and pine. finished very smoothly.

Ok, I was hoping for much more in this beer than it delivered.... No hope nose in the aroma. Well, that shows me no late hop addition, but that's the brewer's choice. The flavor proved to be not too complex and not that well balanced. More acidic than I'd like. Yes, falls into the IPA style, but not award winning. I'll finish this 6-pack, but probably won't get another.

Nice ruby-brown color with decent white head. aroma of dark sweet malt and some flowery hops. Taste: Starts sweet and malty (caramel, dried apricot). I was expecting more hops. Dry, nutty and bready finish. Not an IPA but a quite nice ESB?
