1 l fliptop bottle bought at the brewery. Poured in the original .25 l Schumacher Altbier glass a clear ruby brown or deep red copper colored Alt with a good one finger slight beige foamy head that had an excellent retention. Soft carbonation. Superb lacing. The aroma is heavy roasted malts, toffee, spicy, licorice, hay, grassy bitterness. The flavour is roasted malts, notes of caramel,a hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is crispy, fruity, nuts and toasted malts. This light to medium bodied Alt has a long roasted malts finish. A very refreshing and tasting Alt.

Many an altbier out there that is as good as this. Normal copper color with a nice pillowy head. Lacing was great. Aroma was hard to pick up, but the flavor was not nearly as crisp as a lager should be, some fruit and citrus tones picked up, almost like this one was a bit cider-like. Mouthfeel moderate, on par for the style.

Draught at Schumacher, Im Goldenen Kessel, Altstadt, Dusseldorf. Medium amber colour with excellent white head, that lasted as long as the beer. Malty nutty and hoppy. Very smooth, medium bodied. My least favourite of the Dusseldorf brewpubs Alts, but it is still excellent.
