May 2015: 500 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. ABV is 5.0%. BB date 03.14. Golden colour, moderate white head. Fairly fresh aroma, moderate notes of banana and cloves. The flavour is quite dry and refreshing, only very moderate notes of banana and cloves, the hops are more distinct than in most weissbiers.

Clear lighter yellow with white foam head lacing to glass. Aroma is light citrus. Taste is light weizen citrus taste, nice and fresh. Short aftertaste, again a light weizen. (Velp 201212)

ours a light golden color with a decent amount of foamy white head that laces the glass. Smell is of wheat malt and clove spice. Tastes like citrus and cloves like the smell. With a slight metallic flavor aftertaste.

Yellow gold, nice froth that falls away. Very noticable toasty/caramel nose, that becomes more and more evident the further into the bottle you go. Subtle note of tinned vegies. Not really sure about this.... I taste the toast again....some banana in there, lemon. Mouthfeel is a bit cloying, no crisp finish. I'm tasting this in parallel with Weihenstephan and Erdinger (hefe). The toasty nose is the real difference here... not sure how that aligns with style. It's still a nice drop.

I am a great fan of Kristallwiezen Bier. This is simply the best of the breed. It's light sweet body and taste are a great experience. The carbonation is extreme so adding a few kernnels of rice is desireable to allow the excess to bubble off. A slice of Lemon tops this Kristall off in the Hessen or Wiesbadener style! By the bottle is best! Can not quite as good. From the keg can leave much to be desired, this bier must be consumed fresh and unless the locale does large volume then keg bier can become stale.

Bottle. Nice golden coloured beer with a thick white head. Aroma is spicey, citrus, slightly metallic and yeasty. Flavour is wheaty, citrusy and bubblegum. Medium bodied and quite highly carbonated. Pretty good.

Compared to the other great selections offered under the Schofferhofer moniker, this one is not so great. However, when compared to other german kristalweizen’s, this one is quite good.
