In honor of the fall hazelnut harvest, we brewed this flavorful nut brown ale. Its distinct hazelnut aroma and taste are accentuated by slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt notes. Medium in body, it finishes smooth with an underlying spiciness from the hops making it a great choice for fall.

Surprisingly good. Could be my 2nd favorite Samuel Adams seasonal or new release behind the Holiday Porter. The appearance is a little deceiving....lighter to medium brown with a thin pour. Still feels slightly thin, but has a semi-creamy texture with some bold flavors. Good caramel malt blended with toffee and hazelnut. Actually tastes like a coffee brown. Got in the 2013 Harvest Collection variety pack. Hope they put this in 6 and 12 packs, cause Sammy Hazel Brown is officially in the economy beer rotation.

Part of the fall sampler this year. Dark brown pour with a quickly dissipating head. Aptly named beer since the hazelnuts are so prominent in both aroma and taste. Also detect some roasted malt, caramel and molasses. Sweet and nutty but a little thin in mouthfeel.

    12oz bottle -

I really, really enjoyed every aspect of this beer, but the true treasure is in it's delivery of the hazlenut/sweet malt combo in a great way. It reminded me in a way of SA's Chocolate Bock, in how it delivered that classic chocolate flavor yet still kept it's beer roots. This beer delivers what might just be THE best flavor of hazlenuts in a beer this side of Rogue's Hazlenut Brown. Really hoping this starts getting some exposure in 6-packs and not just being added in on the 12-pack Harvest collection.

Really enjoyed this beer. Dark brown pour with a thin off white head. Minimal lace on the glass. The aroma and taste were outstanding. Nicely balanced sweetness with nutty background.

Sampled from bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a thick tan head. Rich toasted malt aroma. Slightly sweet. Toasted malt flavor with very subtle spice. Medium-full body. Enjoyable Fall offering.

Part of their 12-pack Harvest Collection for 2012 (brought back from the States by Lilihel). Pours a clean copper colour with an off-white fizzy head that has better retention than I expected (from all the fizziness - like pop). Not much lace. Typical nut brown ale scent at first, but then, the hazelnut aromas come out a little. Nice mix of caramel and roasted malts, all well-blended with the hop for flavours. Oh wow... loads of hazelnut in the finish. Was not expecting this, as most brown ales with the word "nut" in them, do not really taste like nuts, but more like hints of them. This one is really hazel-nutty. Not usually a fan of nut brown ales, but because of this, I am a fan of this one. Yes, I am a sucker for flavoured beers.

It pours a dark brown body, a half inch white foamy head appears and lasts for a good minute. Some foamy rings are left in the lace. The smell has nuts, malts, and light toffee. The taste has the previously mentioned flavors with some light chocolate. The mouthfeel is about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. It is very drinkable. Overall, this is a pretty good beer.

The only newbie in the Sam Adams harvest pack, but dam is it worth it. Poured a bit too cold, so it took the aroma a while to open up, but it did - and how nice it was. Went head to head with a longtime favorite brown (Rogue Hazelnut) and it was at least that beers equal. Not as robust, but smoother, with perfectly complimenting flavored and aromas of hazelnuts, roasted malt and light coffee. Very nice!

From the new Harvest Sampler 12-pk. Not bad for a brown, but lacking richness. Malty and toasted nuttiness in the aroma and flavor, but thin in texture.

Fanfukintastic! Pours thick, creamy and brown. Yummy and syrupy. Tastes of hazelnuts and grain. Great body appearance and taste. I'm going to buy more 12 packs just for this!
