An abundance of hops and malt are added to our IPA to create and preserve its distinctive flavors. Not only do we use generous portions of hops in the kettle, but we also dry hop this ale for one week after fermentation. The dry hopping process adds to this beer's floral and citrus aroma. This is truly a tasty adult beverage! Gold Medal, 2000 World Beer Cup (India Pale Ale Category) Available year round

I had this beer as part of a 14 beer sampler at the Russian River Brew Pub on 14 July 2011. This beer was the lesser of the IPAs with Pliny the Elder reigning king. Blind Pig was just a touch better in my opinion. Both RR IPA and Blind Pig are floral in aroma and the flavor tracks the aroma nicely. A very good beer.

a very floral IPA. just a touch under Blind pig IMHO. The aroma was a touch subdued compared to PIG & PLINY, but still great. the flavor was the strong point. a third great IPA from RR!!

On tap at the brewery. We did a side by side tasting of Blind Pig and RR IPA and I really think that the house IPA won hands down. An aroma of pine, grapefruit, caramel, toffee and very floral. Appearance was copper/orange in color, clear with an off-white head. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied, slightl alcohol burn and clean. Flavors were all nicely balanced with a refinement that's hard to fine. Everything was so damned clean. Pine, grapefruit, and malts all playing together nicely. The drinkability of this beer is off the charts.

Purchased on draught at the Brickskeller’s upstairs bar after a very lengthy wait...which really didn’t seem worth it. Arrived at the table with a dark orange body and a frothy white head. Aroma was indistinguishable due to the tobacco smoke in the air. Taste was pretty decent, a little heavier than I would have thought, but drinkable. If I had had higher expectations, this beer would not have fulfilled them, but as it was, I liked it a lot and ordered another.

~ Initial Review (on-tap), 01-10-2003:
I have to be honest and say that I didn't try this until after having a Pliny The Elder (Double) IPA, and a Hoptime Harvest (Double) IPA. That having been said, I wasn't sure what to make of this IPA. Sweetish and rather tame, to be honest. I will have to re-review this at a later time to give a fully fair review, but in the meantime, I was not impressed with the rather "iffY" hop selections. More to come, I'm sure....
~ Re-review (on-tap), 05-13-2003:
It's taken me this long to try this again? Yeah, I guess so. It's normally on at the same time as the masterful Pliny The Elder, so you can probably guess which of the two gets my attention, yes?
But anyway, had a pint of this at O'Brien's. Definately a better drop than what I rated over a year ago. Well-balanced, with several different taste sensations from the rather complex hop-profile. Gives my "standard" IPA (Stone IPA) a run for it's money. Highly recommendable.
Scores adjusted.

Light orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is citrus and floral. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. A fairly bitter IPA. Good balance. Crisp and sharp hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is dry, clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

Draft: Clear golden color, mild hoppy aroma, the flavor is hoppy on the citric side with a somewhat dry finish. It’s a good middle of the road IPA.

A sandy copper color with a nice rolling meadows head. Hoppy, orange peel style, bitterness presides over me as i make my journey through the big ass mug. Has a traditional hoppy gin and juice aroma.

This IPA pours with an orange-gold body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and hoppy with bitter notes, grassy notes, a slight pineyness and a touch of grapefruit. The flavor is bitter, piney and hoppy wtih a slight sweetness, a little grapefruit and a slight skunkiness. Medium bodied and dry.
