Clean and malty Marzen, I was happy with this sample. Clear amber brown body with a fluffy head and good lacing. Sweet malty aroma with lots of caramel and bread. Medium bodied and really drinkable. The Pacman yeast house flavor of Rogue really shined through the profile and complimented the traditional Oktoberfest aspects nicely.

Packaged in the typical Rogue 650 ml bottle. Smells like Flinstones vitamins. A little foam rises from the top of the bottle so I'll pour it slowly. Pours thick and a little cloudy. I didn't expect it to clear up, but it did. First taste is muddled. B vitamins, honey and wet hay predominate the palate. But the next sip brings it all together. This is a sweet, grainy and slightly sour play on an Oktoberfest. My only complaint is the sour finish. Maybe it's because this is an old bottle. Think I'll try a newer one next year.

On tap @ Bearden Beer Market: Light golden pour with thin head. Good lacing. Sweet malts, honey in the aromas, with a dash of hops. Taste is a bit too sweet too, with said honey flavor and caramel sweet malts only offset slightly by some hops. LOTS of better Oktoberfests out there.

Pours a pretty clear amber with a cream-white head that is fluffy but disappears fairly quickly. Aroma is malty with an apple cider overtone and just a touch of sweetness. Flavor is mainly fruity with a malty undertone and a hint of hoppy bitterness as well as just a whisper of honey sweetness. Texture is smooth and subtly fizzy, leaving behind a soft tingle.

A bright orange colored beer. The foamy texture, white head is small and doesn’t present a hang time. Settles into a thin soapy ringlet. The nose is sweet malt. Not much else. Light bodied, Well carbonated. Mostly bready malt in tasting. Grassy hops are all to settle. Not the best marzen I’ve had and in that a disappointment in the expectations I have of Rogue.

Bright slightly cloudy copper with a small skiff but good retention. Aroma is wet grass, and Welchers grape juice. Good crisp taste to sign of Euro skunk, just a good crisp hop presence, nice light toasted malts and a lingering bitterness. Good brew I enjoyed it.

Sampled on 12/7/2009. This marzen pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with decent retention. The aroma is roasted malts, bready and sweet. A medium bodied marzen. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. A bready, semi-sweet marzen. Lively carbonation. Light and refreshing. Nice dry bready finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly biitter.

Sampled from bottle. Pours clear copper with a creamy off-white head. Soft, malt-dominant aroma. Mostly toast. Balanced towards sweet. A tinge of metal too - perhaps from loads of Munich malt in the grist. There's a bit of spicy, herbal hops in the flavor as well. Maybe a 20 minute addition? Medium-bodied and a bit course. A fine beer.

Pours a dark gold with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is earthy, grassy hops with some sweet malt. Mouthfeel is light. Taste is slightly sweet with a light bitter finish. Solid but not a great beer for the price.
