Above and beyond an India Pale Ale--I2PA is radically hopped with an intense aroma and hop bitterness. Unfiltered and aged for 9 months before it leaves the brewery--not for the faint of heart. Hazy golden yellow color with decent white foam head. Aroma is bitter hops, nothing else. So is taste, a IPA from beginning to end. I really like this. Long aftertaste, bitter to the end. Nice counter from 7 bocks at the festival. (Amsterdam 201210)

Draft at TJ’s poured into a snifter. Poured a cloudy, golden-orange with a sudsy, creamy one-finger head which settled to a coating. Lacing was abundant throughout. Nose was grapefruit, pine and some sweetness. Taste is definitely hop forward - citrus (orange, grapefruit, mango), some caramel malt and breadiness. Finish is nicely dry and moderately bitter. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation which produces a nice edginess. I would have no clue from drinking this of the ABV. I wouldn’t say this was a balanced IPA, but it is the kind I like and I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Poured a hazy orange with a head that if you plink is gone. The nose is wonderful. Full of citrus and hops. But that is it, the taste fell flat. To much malt. Over the top alcohol taste. Will not be buying this IIPA again

Orangy bown cloudy beer with a white head that poured out thin with no retention, lots of blobby chunks. Smells thick! Honey, some grapefruit, citrus candy (fruit punch), something pungent (early), noticable malts. Interesting. It gets more soft and fruity along the way. The taste is a huge disappointment. Lacks flavour. Where is the flavour? I think the flavour is just crushed by the bitter mouth feel. The beer isn't over the top bitter but the hops are very strong. Some malts, but, once again, the bitterness flattens the malts. Slight grapefruit. Waaaay to much alcohol. Medium bodied, soft swish, drying qualities, permanent bitter aftertaste. I think this beer sucked and is obviously amazingly overpriced.

this is a big and chewy imperial ipa...wish they didn't switch to ceramic bottles at $12 a pop. oh well. a little bitter, and less floral/aromatic than i like, but still a good beer. nice biscuity malty backbone. just not a good value.

I passed on this one for quite some time because of the price, which will probably prevent me from having it too many more times, but I finally decided to give it a try. Pours an orange color with a nice big fluffy off-white head. Tons of lacing. Aroma is grassy hops, pine and some malts. The flavor consists of bitter and dry resinous, pine, and saazy hops, which are strong, with some citrus and bready malts. Wasn't all that thick so didn't seem like a ton of malt underneath but there's some. A bit different than some others in the same category, but that's not necessarily a bad thing and this has a nice hop combo. Now, if we can only get Rogue to quit putting these bigger brews in the ceramic bottles.

Thanks Josh! .. lots of hops, nice nice level of bitters ... honey, pine, wood, lots of pine-coney gooddness ... hies the alcohol under the sheets .. not worth the $17 but would buy if in regular glass ...a solid IIPA ... ditch the ceramic rogue... again, thanks josh..

This was my 1st IIPA have to say i had mixed results. It poured a dark gold/ orangish colored body with a creamy head, aroma of grapefruit was present but not strong. the flavor was strong of malts that overpowered the hops, the citrus all but disappeared. Overall i felt it was an average brew but i will try it again in a few months. Re-rate 11-28-09 on tap at Opal Devines in Austin. Much better the second time around, a nice grapefruit/ floral aroma, chewy mouthfeel. Lots of grapefruit in the flavor. From a 3.1 to a 3.7

I sat on this one for about six months before I opened it. The hop flavors had blended really nicely. I couldn't taste the alcohol at all, either. It had a strong pine resin smell and some strong bitter flavors right up front. The beauty of it was that it didn't become face-scrunchingly bitter at any time. I suppose that isn't quite the point for this style, especially one from the West Coast. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this beer much more than I thought I was going to. As it warmed, it mellowed out very well. Overall, a great orange IIPA.
