A series of homestead acts during the early 1800's offered free land west of the Mississippi to anyone who had endurance enough to live on the land for five years. Kansas City and nearby Independence was the gateway to the West as all three trails departed here: the Santa Fe, Oregon and the California Trail. Many settlers headed further west but ran out of money, courage or both and settled in and around Kansas City to become farmers. These people were aptly labeled as "sodbusters" as they plowed the plains around the Missouri River. Our pale ale has a light copper color and medium body. The use of four different European hops combine to give this smooth, highly quaffable ale a beautiful aroma and fresh taste.

I am not a pale ale enthusiast, so I might be a tough critic. standard ale color and a nice head (best head in brewery). taste was hoppy and thats what I have not grown to like yet, but it had a nice after taste.
