Long Hammer embraces the IPA tradition of a strong hop profile while remaining approachable and easy to drink with its smooth flavor and clean finish. We take the traditional IPA brewing process one step further by dry-hopping, or adding hops at the very end of the brewing process. We use Cascade hops because they impart a wonderful hop aroma without an overpowering hop taste. Long Hammer IPA is the beer you find yourself reaching for again and again, no matter what the occasion. The easy drinking character and approachable flavor of Long Hammer make it the "Go To" IPA. Long Hammer IPA pairs nicely with spicy ethnic dishes and grilled meats.

This one was a bit hoppy, very distinct flavor. Decent lasting head, ok flavor, but a bit too bitter. Poured nice amber color. I may try this one again, if I see it and have nothing else in mind.

Amber, clear, lovely. Pine, peaches, resin in the heady scent. Bittersweet, finely balanced with a slightly more bitter kick in the aftertaste. Certainly worth drinking

This could possibly be rated a point or two higher, but when I take in the comparison for the style, it weighs it down a little. About an average IPA. Flavor is decent, balance is ok, just missing that "it" factor. Light to medium orange appearance. Was happy hour 2-1 drafts, and this was the best that was offered on tap. Not really a big fan of red hook, and would not seek this out again.

Bomber from Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Rocky white head over a clear gold pour. Looks kinda light for an IPA. Aroma had a bit of each for the hops, pine, and citrus. Flavour reflected the aroma, no dominent characteristics or standouts. Average mouth, surprisingly bitter finish. Just a very average beer.

Cloudy gold with a thin, dense cap that quickly goes away. Sweet caramel aroma, a little lemony and grassy. Citrusy hop flavor balanced with sweetness, but neither is particularly interesting or impressive, and there's an unfortunate hint of bar soap. I appreciate that the carbonation is relatively light and the beer isn't too heavy. Overall, there are much better IPAs.

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is of piney hops. Taste is the same but milder, some pine and hops, a light bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

This beer lacks some colour for an India Pale Ale, a weak golden yellow colour with a thin tight off-white head. Weak citrus aromas hit the nose first, followed by some malty sweetness. Flavour has a nice balance but no oomph!

Hmmm...I was filling out one of those "build your own 6 packs" and I needed a 6th beer. I'm glad I only have one of these...Visually not bad, no discernable aroma as far as an IPA would go, some pine and resin in the taste but not much, mostly just a really bad attempt by Red Hook.

I picked this beer up at Fresh Market in Roanoke, VA. I wish I would' ve picked something else. It's not that it's a bad beer it's just not a good beer. The beer smells kind of skunky and sweet. The flavor is dull and ordinary. The hop profile is mostly pine resins. The mouthfeel is watery. There are simply better IPAs out there - see, Smuttynose.

Mar. 2010 - Well, it was free during complimentary cocktail hour at my hotel in Portsmouth, NH. Pale gold color, no head or lacing. Faint aroma of hops. Some fruity flavor and mild floral and citrus notes with little to no bitterness. Watery and sickly sweet. After coming from Portsmouth Brewing, this really pales in comparison. Lame.

Open the bottle and the aroma of the hops hit hard. The taste of the beer is a bit bitter, but sits well with my tastes buds. The combination of the two makes me salivate in anticipation of opening a bottle up. If you are a hop addict, this beer is a decent fix.
