Black-Eye Rye is an American-style India Black Ale brewed with rye. Inspired by the popularity of this unique and interesting style, it pours midnight black and features a fluffy cappuccino colored head. Don’t let the dark color fool you though, because this is Red Brick’s hoppiest beer yet! The aroma features complex tropical fruit notes of mango and peach intermingling with classic citrus and pine, as well as a slight hint of cocoa. The flavor is resinous and piney, complimented by a velvety mouth-feel, and finishes with lingering notes of grapefruit and bittersweet chocolate. It’s sure to keep you coming back round after round!

A reddish tinged deep brown colored beer with a small, two fingered, sudsy textured, light tan head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet is left. The bourbon oak dominates in the profile. Full bodied, creamy. Big alcohol bite

Strong aroma - it just about follows me around the room - is quite rye-ish, with firm earthy and hoppy notes and hints of fresh-baked pumpernickel bread (I love pumpernickel BTW!) and regular barley malt. Comes out of the growler a slightly reddish dark chocolate brown with a thick and rather persistent dirty tan head. Flavor is - superb. Mouth-filling. Sublime. Friggin' delish. Smoky, hoppy, scarcely bitter, hints of licorice, molasses, even a little sour orange and semi-sweet chocolate. Could this get any better? Scarcely. Thick, smooth texture has lively fizz that leaves a nice hoppy and smoky finish. I hope this becomes a Red Brick standard, because I sure could return to it again and again and again!
