Nearly solid black in color, this is a full-flavored complex brew of roasted barley, sugar and a hint of honey. Once poured, the smoky aroma melds nicely with the creamy head for a beer drinking experience not for the timid.

This stout has a sweet roasted malt and coffee bean nose. The taste is excellent if a bit different due to the roasted/toasted/slightly burnt malt taste. Goes down smooth, a definite must try for the true stout afficianado and the 7.5% Abv really rounds out this brew.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, sweet roasted malts. Regular stout appearance, black body, tan cap. Flavor was similar to the aroma with the coffee, chocolate, and sweet roasted malts. Mouthfeel was kinda thin, and the finish was dry. Overall it was o.k.

can't really taste the honey, but it seems to lend itself to the exceptionally smooth body of this beer. other than that, it's a good-but-not-great stout. recommended.

Pours like chocolate syrup into my glass. A completely opaque black with light brown head sitting on top. Lots of chocolate in the smell and taste, with some strong hoppy underpinnings. Lightly carbonated, that is, the beer itself is heavy and thick with just a sparkle of carbonation in there. Super-smooth...like unpainted black velvet. As far as the higher alcohol goes, I wouldn't have known this was any stronger than a typical stout; the alcohol is very well hidden. This is a fabulous stout; I will have to try the rest of the ReaperAles too.

Pours black with some mahogany showing through along the edges, and a thin head that dies down pretty quickly. Aroma is smoky coffee, dark chocolate, burnt grass, and caramel. Starts mildly sweet with dark chocolate and toffee, smoky and light creamy sweet coffee follow, before finishing with a decent amount of burnt charcoal and grassy bitterness. Well balanced, finishes nicely dry. 7.5% abv is completely hidden, drinks like a 5%er.

22 oz bottle, purchased 11/30/06. Pours a dark black with red highlights. It has a creamy brown head that dissipates to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is chocolate and grainy malts with notes of tar, vanilla and alcohol.
The flavor is charred chocolate and anise with a little slightly sour fruitiness. As it warms, a lot of sweet lactic vanilla comes out - a little too much. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is medium to full and velvety.
Overall, a nice stout. It's a little too sweet for me, it needs a little more roast or bitterness IMO. -

I guess to say that this beer was a bit thin would be the worst thing I found wrong with it. I really did enjoy the beer, with it's roasted malt, coffee and chocolate nose. The taste was enjoyable with the roast character playing the loudest tune, but I could also get some roasted nuts, chocolate and carmael in there too. Nice head when poured too. I will get this again.

I am not gonna lie the main reason why i got this beer was because of the bottle it poured a jet black color with a very small brown head that went away very quickly the flavor was not that strong mostly of roasted nuts with some slight hints of chocolate mouthfeel was also fell short for the style i was a little disapointed with this one but thats what i get for picking a beer by the label

This beer poured an inky black color with a very small medium brown colored head that left next to no lace. The aroma was very light for a stout over 7% ABV and featured some roasted malts and light coffee bitterness. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied not very smooth or drinkable, again suprising given the style. The flavor fell kind of flat with some coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and vanilla flavors but nothing really stood out as exceptional.

A decent stout. I must admit i bought this one because of the name. It is definitely not the best stout, but it has character. Pours black with a small brownish head. Aroma of sweet malts, chocolate, coffe notes and burnt stuff. The taste is somewhat sweet with the chocolate & heavily roasted coffee flavors out front. It fits the name for sure. Decent stout here.
