Our robust Porter shows bittersweet flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. It has very complex malt character enhanced by yeast fruitiness.

Pours clear sepia with a fair buff head. Aroma gives roast malt, earthy and coffee tones. Flavor offers roast malt, coffee, earthy and subtle woody notes. Texture yields decent body and lively fizz. To the porter port.

A most enjoyable Porter, dark, rich, coffee and chocolate coming through, slightly sweet, with a satisfying aftertaste. Me and several friends have been drinking it for week's now, at Jake`s Pub and Billiards. They picked it up at my request, after I tried it in a bottle, which was as good if not better.

I like this beer for many reasons: Alexandria, VA brewed only 3.8 miles from my place, Coffee, Chocolate, Dark, Delicious, Pretty color, Rich taste, just enough of taupe foam to make me smile. If anyone is in the Alexandria, VA area and you want a personal visit to Port City, BP mail me and I'll be happy to oblige.

Picked up a growler at the brewery. Pours with a thick 1.5" tan head that resolves in minutes to a thin but dense cap. Color is black coffee and the aroma is similar, but a little tart and sweet with hints of alcohol. Initial flavor is sweet, smokey, and quite hop bitter. As it progresses, the bitterness dominates and remains somehow distinct from the sweetness. Wet and sticky, with larger bubbles than other porters I've tried recently. Lots of lacing. Interesting aftertaste-- something green and ferny-- is pleasant.

Big, bold porter. Deep brown to black color with a single digit deeply tanned head. Aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. A hint of hops keeps it from being too heavy.

Bittersweet and pretty robust in flavor and feel. Doesn't really follow the porter style to a tee, but it don't matter. Rich chocolate, coffee (slight) and decent balance. Nice brew. Thanks Thomas.

Second of four Port City brews from FoamDome: Almost black dark brown pour with a tight cream-colored head and significant lacing throughout. Rich aromas of toasted malts, light cocoa and coffee, slight hops. Taste is smooth and almost creamy with roasted malts, nicely done, slight cocoa and again some weak black coffee with a slight hops tinged finish. Excellent porter - big thank you Dave, much appreciated.

Growler. Pours dark brown black with a thin tan head. Decent lacing. Aroma is lovely, lots of dark coffee goodness. Mouthfeel is a smidge thin but I have to remind myself this is a porter and not trying to be a stout. Outstanding balance in flavor with expected coffee and bittersweet chocolate roast followed with malty sweetness. Liking it a lot.
