Pours with a light fizz, very short lived head, pale gold color. aroma is light pleasant beery yeasty. Flavor is crisp, but not dramatic, very refreshing, but almost zero aftertaste, with a I am sure there must be a hop in there someplace flavor. -- would make an excellent "mow the lawn in the hot sun beer", or would go well with meals of a delicately flavored food. A bit expensive, I most likely would not fly to Thailand just for the brew, but if it comes my way, its OK with me.

It pours a urine-sample yellow with no head and no lace. Aroma of grainy malts, light hops, and citrus. Mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied. Flavors of sweet & sour malts, light hops, lemon/citrus, and mild spices. It is a good lager, yet I can't believe I paid $10 for a sixer.

I always want to pronounce this as "F*ket" but of course I know better. Sure I do. The hoppy aroma jumped out as soon as the cap came off, and that's the best of it. A frothy white head reduced itself quickly, over top of a clear gold body. Aroma was not so bad. The taste was watery and weak, like a light beer, and seemed perfumed to boot. Aftertaste was pretty much nada. My second Thai beer, and for sure the lesser of the two. Singha is better and cheaper.

Your typical pale swill taste with a strong skunky aroma, nothing too exciting. Clear golden colour with a large white grainy head. But the label looks like something you would experience at a Jimmy Buffet concert.

A rather crass commercialized tourist beer here.... I've been to Phuket Island, and can't imagine the locals ordering up this silly looking beer. For example, I don't think parakeets are native to Thailand -- but hey! It looks good on a beer bottle label, so what the heck, eh? I wouldn't be half surprised if this beer came out some time after the horrible 2004 Tsunami, to make some quick bucks, but I might very well be mistaken there.

All that aside, grabbed up a single of this from my local Trader Joe's for the heck of it. Harmless enough to waste a buck-and-change on a beer such as this -- since sometimes these one-bottle obscurities from Trader Joe's yield some interesting surprises.

While I wouldn't say that this was a big hit in my book, at the same time, it's surprisingly not horrible. A very "by the numbers" Pale Lager, complete with the semi-obligatory just-starting-to-skunk estery character from UV light making it's way through the classical Euro-Green bottle.

Poured fine, but the head and carbonation left the building rather quickly. Like I mentioned, the aroma isn't anything special either. The flavor profile? Very standard for this sort of beer, regardless of origin. A bit drier than the norm, which I think helps it's drinkability quotient.

But this is rather thin and dull in the mouthfeel, and just a rather dull beer altogether.

While my expierence with Phuket Island (July `98 @ Patong Beach) was limited to a very brief four-day visit, I still think this is a "100% Pure Tourist Rip-off Beer" here.... The locals, who pound down 600mL bottles of higher-octane Singha and Leo and Kloster Bier like it's going out of style would no doubt take one look at the frilly harmless beer, and leave it for clueless Euro and American foreign tourists....

For a pale lager, this wasn't horrible. It was drinkable with the homemade pizza I baked. An aroma of yeast, malts, grass and a little skunk but not really bad. Perhaps I got a fresh bottle? Appearance was clear and piss yellow with a nice white head (typical of a pale lager). Mouthfeel was light and evervescent. Flavors were also on the lighter side of things, with a lttle malt, a little hops and not much else. To rate with other lagers, it's not bad. But on the overall scheme of things it's not all that tasty.

Pale island lager with a decent foamy head. Aroma was highly skunked with a light hop note lying beneath. Effervescent mouthfeel. Flavor is of musty, stale malts and wet cardboard. Finish has the sugary sweet characteristic of some type of adjunct. Exactly what you'd expect when picking this one up.

Man oh man "phuket" uh? That strangely sounds like "puket" lager which I hope just for the sake of being able to finish this brew is not true. That being said, here is my rundown of this so called "Pearl of the Andaman Sea" lager. The aroma starts with a mushroom cloud of skunk when the cap of this green bottle is popped but I am detecting some sweet malt, grain, as well as corn somewhere muddled under the fallout of this skunkiness and that is about it for the aroma. The appearance is an extremely pale lager and is almost as clear as water with only some slight yellow food coloring added but does have a decent and medium head on top that is fuzzy and carbonated and a bleach white in color and does have some ability to remain throughout consumption and not totally disappear. The mouthfeel is very light-bodied with not much of any complexity or balance and pretty much is just "there" for lack of a better word with a palate that is wet-like with no complimenting characteristics. The flavor is of sweet malt and corn as well as grain and is becoming pretty offensive as I consume this poor excuse for a beer and has an aftertaste that is just bad and skunky with a finish that is not even refreshing or smooth and is pretty ruff and is at least wet-like which would mean if it was hot as hell outside on a Southern Summer afternoon, with no other beer to drink, you might be able to stomach this brew. Overall, yes it is true, the name does imply how this one was going to taste and does make you want to puke. Maybe this brew would be good in the very hot and sultry atmosphere of the Island of Thailand but I am not so sure about that and I am pretty sure I will never go to Thailand so, that being said, pass this brew up if you see it because it is not worth it one bit and the damn green bottle destroys this "possibly would be good brew" totally...for goodness sake, next review please! Oh, on one last final note, the bottle label says in red "For Export Only" which quite possibly mean this brew is so bad the locals of Thailand want even drink this brew; damn, now that is something to think about!

Bottle. Golden colour with a slim, rapidly gone, white head. Aroma is sweet hops and malt. I’m thirsty, so I might be overly disposed to this beer, but the first taste was OK. Light hops and malt, light body, low carbonation; fairly bland, but mostly harmless.
