Otter Creek was inspired to brew its new Middleberry Ale by the elderberries which grow wild along the banks of the Otter Creek which flows through its hometown of Middlebury. This is a light and refreshing summer ale with hints of elderberries and blueberries, a perfect thirst quencher during the warmer months.

Otter Creek Middleberry Ale poured a light golden color with a nice white head that receded quickly. It was extremely bubbly. The aroma was very nice with a major note of elderberry/blueberry. The taste is light crisp, and not as fruity as one would expect. Not too bad except that it seems to be built off of a light beer.

A: Crystal clear with a nice tight white head. The head faded slowly and a thick lace appeared. The never ending combination race up the glass and kept the lace until the end of the beer. Aroma: Mild hints of berries, touch of malt and a splash of hops. The berry was not overpowering but gave it a nice touch Taste: A bit sweet up front with the berry flavor, mild malt tones in the middle and a bitter hop pucker mixed with a fruit finish. M: Mouthfeel is dry, crisp and bubbly, not bad. For a fruit beer I was expecting the worse, something that was like drinking syrup. This is not that way. I could enjoy many of these, more so on a hot summer day as it has a refreshing feel to it. Overall: Not into fruit beers? Give this one a try. It is not overpowering. Enjoy

Fruity, as advertised. Poured a pale golden yellow with ample carbonation and fair retention. Aroma seems off, slightly tart, a bit musty, with lotsa sweet fruitiness. Flavor starts very sweet, blueberry, and an assortment of other fruit. Finishes dry and a little tart, slight sourness, and very faint hops. Not bad, but leans to heavily on fruit, and no enough on beer. Tastes like a slightly tart fruit juice.

This brew pours with a crystal clear, pale yellow body topped by a huge white head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet and full of berries, with a slight sour/tart note. The flavor is slightly sweet yet slightly bitter with a note of berries. Not all that great. Light bodied, smooth and slightly dry.

The aroma when opening the bottle was a very rich blend of blueberry and elderberry. The appearance was a nice golden color with a slight head and a layer of lace. However, the taste was anything but smooth. There was a very unenjoyable aftertaste that was totally unexpected.

This ale is pale in color with little head forming from an aggressive pour. The flavor is quick and crisp which is followed up by a long lasting after taste that continues to build long after swallowing. The aroma of this be overwelming of blueberries. My wife actually accused me of burning a scented candle while I was having this ale. I generally don't mind fruit ales but this is over the top.
