Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with 3 malts and 1 hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn’t end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer will greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness

This beer poured with a light copper colored body topped by a thick off white head that left pretty good lace. Aroma was big citrusy hops with some alcohol, pine and a sharp metallic scent. Medium bodied, flavors are mostly bitter citrus hops, caramel malt and unfortunately that same off metallic twang.

Pours a lovely transparent golden with a fine-bubbled off-white head. Strongly hoppy aroma has a hint of citrus. Fiercely hoppy, evergreen flavor has an undertone of sour orange. Smooth yet tingly and lively texture leaves a hoppy and citrus finish. A must for hop-heads.

Huge orange, lemon, and grapefruit trifecta along with an abundance of pine.......so fresh and so clean clean. Crystal clear light copper pour producing a half inch off white head and stringy lacing. Smooth then a big mellow bitterness ensues leading to a vibrant hop assault. Big hops, faint malt backbone and juicy from start to finish.

Cloudy orange with a thin, reluctant cap that dissolves quickly but leaves loads of lace. Sugary lemon-orange aroma with just the faintest whiff of pine at the tip of my nose. Quite orangey sweet flavor with spice and a bit of pineapple, a grapefruit oil bite at the back, and an almost dry finish. Pungent, yes, but nice juxtaposition and blending. Big flavor and smooth & almost chewy mouthfeel. Incredibly strong, but drinks fast, going to my head quick. Not my favorite style, but a good showing in this style. Fits my OB expectations.

Colorado. Must go to Colorado. Everything Oskar Blues I've tried is great. This... 10%! Wow. heady, sticky lace. Nice amber colour. Impressive aroma. Canned hops, who knew? ... A taste of alcohol, which is mild enough. Reminds me of a 90 minute IPA. Lingering heat, but I like it.

Pours a hazy orange with an off white head that settles into a nice cap. Leaves a good amount of lacing. That’s just the start to an excellent beer. Citrus and spicy aroma. Pine, grapefruit ,hops alcohol and more hops. Smooth creamy mouth feel. Poof gone. But I know where there’s more.

A dark golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some pine, herbal notes, grapefruit, and lemons. The flavor is extremely bitter but also has a malt presence. Flavor contains more lemons and grapefruit. Bitter finish on this also. Overall for hopheads which I am one.

Sampled from can. Pours copper-gold with a faint haze. Thick creamy head and intricate lacing. Pungent citrus hop aroma. Wonderful bitter flavor. Not astringent at all. Simple breast malt profile with a huge dose of spicy citrus hops. Full-bodied and easy to drink despite the high OG. These guys know how to brew the hoppy ales!

Thank you Kaare. Hazy orange brown with a good cap. The smell of the beer is amazing I can’t stop smelling it, so very hoppy, full and sweet. Yum yum yum. Massive fruity aroma in this beer, tangerines, pineapple, lemon. There is a sharpness to the aroma but I don’t know what it is. Aroma is so thick with sweet caramel malts. This is one of my most favorite smelling beers. The rye really comes out in the flavor and it works awesome with all the fruit flavors. This beer is yummy. Very thick taste you chew on this stuff. Sweet citrus fruit flavor with an awesome lingering bitterness. This is the best IIPA I’ve had in a long time

Aug. 2010 - Bold gold color with fluffy head and some lacing. Aroma is of strong citrus...zoiks, I think I detect some of that funky herbal hop that I’ve heard about this beer. On first sip, while cold, the strong citrus rind flavor and corresponding strong bitter bite was pleasant, and only a hint of that garlic/oniony thing that this thing is (in)famous for. As it warmed, though, it got undrinkable and I had to pour just over half of this. Seriously, did anyone taste test this? Who wants a garlic/oniony flavor in their beer? Really awful.
