Zuur – or Sour – is our collaborative Flemish sour brown ale. A beer whose style arises from the mists of brewing history. It uses mixed fermentation, real fruit, significant aging, and master blending. All of these are ancient and revered Belgian techniques. This unique Flemish sour brown ale is complex, tart with a touch of sweetness, lightly malty and gently hopped. Zuur is a unique blend created in collaboration between Brewery Ommegang and Brouwerij Liefmans

cool- zuur!! .. . pours a dirty raspberry .. . medium head, sticky lacing . . aromas of berry, funk, mop water, and fruit smoothie .. . fairly one dimensional but still refined.. . happy to have got to have tried it! .. . Well, there was the bit that you missed where I distracted him with the cuddly monkey then I said "play time's over" and I hit him in the head with the peace lily.

July 2010 - Chestnut brown pour, one finger head. Nose was tart cherry. Flavor was earthy malts, cherry with a tinge of caramel. Sour finish, moderate. Pretty good effort. I liked it. Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing!

a little surprised at the relatively low scores. darker sour with a redish hue. tight head. smooth, lactic quality. the aroma was at first ever so slightly metallic and young smelling, though there was a hint of the sour cherry and oak complexity to come. a couple minutes in all off notes were gone and it smelled and tasted great. reminds me most of new glarus’ sour. all sour cherries and oak. not mouth puckering, but subtle and complex.

Poured a deep rusett with small to medium head a very low carbonation The aroma was of sour fruit. The flavor was flat and overpoweringly sour. I thought this would go well with roasted turkey but alas I was wrong. Not a fav or one I would buy again.

Pretty nice beer featured at the Malt House for a while. Pours a dark reddish amber with a nice sized head. Aroma has some tart fruit, fermented apples, oak and grass. Taste is just abou the same. Pretty well balanced, again, digging that sour fruit, smooth malts and sweet, supple berryiness.

Sampled on 7/13/2010. This sour ale pours a dark reddish amber color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cherry, wood and funk, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, cheery and a touch of chocolate. The hops are herbal. Nice carbonation. This beer is not an in your face sour, although it has a lot of tartness, funk, wood and fruitiness, it is very nicely balanced so the tart, funk and wood are fairly well balanced and in harmony with the fruitiness. Very smooth tasting for a sour. It sort of reminds me a little of the Rodenbach Vintage 2007 with the nice mellow tartness. There is a touch of cheery sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
