This year's Summer Wheat (2005) is a German-style Dunkel Weizen (dark wheat). Although dark in color, you'll find our wheat beer to be light, refreshing, and easy to drink. The complex, fruity, and somewhat spicy aroma is derived from authentic Bavarian yeast. Toasted caramel notes are present yet subtle. Find some summer shade and relax with this thirst quencher. NOTE: Because Old Dominion rotates their summer seaonal recipes, be sure to not confuse this with their other offerings.

Sampled as part of the spring tasting at Hard Times Café. Dark bronze, cloudy. Negligible aroma. Clean taste. Light, watery body and dry finish. Not really a lot going on in this beer.

Poured a lightly hazy, brown color, with an off white head that left very light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, banana nut bread, and wheat. Taste of nuts, some bubblegum, citrus, some tart wheat, and some faint roast in the background.

A nice but not overly impressive dunkelweizen. Poured a dark caramelly color with a normal head that stayed as a thin covering for the duration of the drink. The aroma was caramel like with some spices detectable. Flavor was much of the same, but the caramel covered the banana and citrus fruity flavors I was hoping for more of.
