this ruby tinged brown ale pours with little head, and little retention. softly carbonated. aroma is sweet malt and somw nutiness. weak at first, but grows as it warms. little to no hop presence in the aroma or taste, but as the maltiness is not offensive, it's a decent enough beer, if a little weak & light on the flavor profile. like a Sam Smiths Nut Brown light.

While on my vacation here in Arizona, my wife wanted to take a day trip from Phoenix up to Sedona for the day. First thing I did was look up Sedona breweries. Oak Creek Brewery and Grill was the first thing that popped up. So it was decided, this was where we were eating lunch. I was driving so I only decided to have one of their creations and on this day I was in a nut brown mood.

The beer came out to the table in a tall, fancy trumpet looking glass. The body on the beer had a wonderfully solid brown color to it and a finger thick tan head perched on top. To best describe it, this beer looked like maple syrup (in look, not texture). Even though the head was good looking, it left behind no lacing at all. The aroma was a little on the weak side when the beer was first served up, but as it warmed up in the unusually warm January air, a little more on the scent side started to hit my nose. The aroma was sweet, nutty, and malty.

The taste was a couple steps above the aroma and appearance. I really enjoyed the sweetness of the malts. Packed in there were some hints of caramel, cinnamon, and brown sugars that really blended well on the palate. The beer was a little thinner than most browns, but still very drinkable.

Overall, this was the perfect beer to enjoy out on the 2nd floor patio at the brewery on a wonderful January day in Sedona. What a wonderful day and a pretty good beer as well.

Bottle courtesy of rustychiles. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells earthy with some caramel, sweet malt, some fruit. Tastes of earthy malt and some vegetal hints.

Bottle courtesy of MDS! Thanks Mr. Stich! Pours dark brown, slightly transparent, with a fizzy medium sized beige head. Aromas mainly consist of roasted malt with a side plate of nuts. Pretty sweet nutty flavours with a punch of hops to try to balance. Litle too sweet maybe. Lacks complexity, but ok for what it is. A new state thanks to MDS!

Dark Amber color, large head, nutty aroma. Roasted malts, very malty, nutty flavor. Smooth and rich taste. Good balance. Mouthfeel is full and round, very smooth. Finish is rich and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Dark brown in color w/ a quickly disappearing tan head. Distinct aroma of roasted nuts. Since I don't have a good sense of smell, when I can pick up this much aroma, it's quite a feat. Thin mouthfeel w/ some bitteness. Certainly lacks the maltiness I expect from a brown ale.

Pours the standard brown ale color with a decent head and good lacing. Aroma is nutty and rich malty. Flavor follows suit with strong sweetness. Nuts and roasted malts come through with very little hop balance. Low in carbonation and not one you can just session. In fact, this one isn't that good within style.

A decent beer, dark brown and a large beige head and generous lace. Malt sweet at the start and a fair to middlin mouth feel, hops are evident at the finish. Drinkable, but not a great beer.
