Perhaps the first enzyme pale ale in the world, brewed with 85% raw barley and enzymes from Novozymes. The beer is a hazy golden brew with US hops on the forefront. A certain sweetness balances out the intense hop flavours such as citrus, pine needles, and grape fruit.

Draught@CPH BF 2011. Goldeny amber colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruits, malts, toffee and some earthyness as well. Flavour is fruits, grass, some toffee and also quite bittery notes. Mild catpissy notes in the aroma as well.

I had this beer out of the tap at the brewery on 19 January 2011 while in Denmark. This beer is especially near and dear to my heart because I am a patent attorney for Novozymes, the company that provided the enzymes for this ale. I was suspicious at first about the quality of this beer but it was VERY good - you would never know that it was a beer absent of a malting process. It was very much like a classic American Pale Ale and tasted like grapefruit and cloves. This beer is very drinkable and I am proud of my company and Nørrebro Bryghus for this most excellent collaborative effort to make a good beer in a really non-traditional way.
