Percy LeFroy Mapleton, aka the British "railway murderer" of 1881. No passenger nor porter witnessed his ghoulish crime on the express train from London Bridge Station. He became the subject of the first police composite picture to appear on a "wanted" poster ultimately leading to his arrest and execution. Our Porter is spookily delicious with hints of cocoa and notes of biscuit, a deep brown hue with full rounded flavour and subtle floral aroma from the Golding hop additions.

Part of their 6-pack boxed mixed pack from The Beer Store. Slightly hazed amber colour with a creamy warm-beige colour with good retention and full creamy lacing. Sweet nose of chocolate and maple over the roasted malt base. The taste are not as rich but still shows the mailed barley with big amount of hop, creating a bitter-dry finish. Not a bad porter with more hops than usual.

Picked up a few tall cans at the brewery. Pours a pretty big and thick frothy beige head and has an amber coppery appearance. Leaves some thick soapy lace behind. Aromas of earthy and resinous hops, some subtle maple notes in the finish. Flavours are light toasted malts, maple is quite noticeable, blends well and is not too overpowering. Fairly smooth and somewhat dry mouthfeel. Not too bad.

The beer poured a solid black colour with a thin white cap. The aroma was roasted malt with hints of chocolate, coffee, and molasses. The mouthfeel was full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour leaned towards the bitter side with notes of roasted malt and dark chocolate. A pretty solid beer.
