330ml brown bottle with a best before date 02-2021. Pours a clean dark amber colour with copper highlights. The frothy beige head has good stay and leaves spotted foam lacing. Aromas are a blend of dark fruits like dates, raisins and banana notes that is found from wheat. The base is caramel malts. The taste shows these ingredients with hops that give out some grassiness, but also kind of rusty water notes. Some haziness at last pour. Interesting, and easy enough to drink for 10% ABV, but nothing to go back to.

The beer pours a translucent solid mahogany colour with a generous tan coloured head which lasts several minutes. The aroma is dark fruits, candy sugar, grains, yeast, and weak spices. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour starts sweet with the malted grains, and sugar, but the finish is bitter with leather notes in the aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden. -

Very dark brown with a brown, slightly sparkly head. Lots of carbonation. Typical Belgian yeast. Sweet caramel with fruit behind it. Finish dries out in the middle but still surrounded by sweetness. A strong beer that doesn't burn much and is sure to sneak up on you.

Poors nice dark beer with bif light brown foam head. Aroma is muffled by this head, caramel. Tastes mostly caramel, little too sweet, some hay. High alcohol is pleasantly present. Sweet aftertaste. (Arnhem 201403)

Pours a hazy dark brown with a 1/2 inch tan head that fades to nothing. No lacing on this beer. Smell is of malt, dark fruits (plums, prunes), and some mild spice aromas. Taste is of malt, the dark fruits, and a nice balance of spices. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and clean mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good BSDA with some very nice flavors going on.

Well contained and almost restrained Belgian character throughout. This provided for an excellent mouth feel, but held back the aroma and flavor. Dark amber body, HUGE foamy head and lacing that blanketed the glass. Herbal and midly fruity. Easy and lively on the palate, drinks with ease for a high abv offering. Doubtful I'll revisit this winter offering again, but it was a nice bottle indeed.

Beer 9 of my 12 Beers of Christmas. Orange golden pour, bubbly white head, very nice lacing throughout. Some carbonation but not as much as expected. Belgian yeast upfront in the nose, sweet bubble gum, some floral, some spices, sweet malts. Great aroma especially after it warms. Taste is smooth for 10% ABV. Nice Belgian yeasties, more bubble gum and candy, some sweet fruits, a touch of citrus, light on the spices. I loved this beer. Fear the Gnome!

On tap a Brasserie V in Madison, amazing how many belgians they get there and the variety on tap. This was a very dark Belgian with great flavor, decent spice character without overpowering the dark fruits. The abv made it a great winter warmer.

From notes: Dark, cloudy appearance, big frothy head. Slightly overarbonated but swirling is enough to help. Flavor of belgian yeast, candi sugar, orange (dig the citrus aspects here). Aroma much the same. Enjoyable brew.

Pours a dark ruby color, topped with an small off white head, leaves some good lacing. The aroma has a big sweet and spicy aroma, lots of candy sugar, curacao peel, orange and some other spices. The taste is of candy sugar, fruit (a mix of orange and cherry), curacao peel and spice, as well as some sweet caramel malt, it's actually pretty well balanced. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth feel with moderate to slightly high carbonation.
