Paired with smoked ribs: Deep ruby amber pour, tight short head, some lacing. Moderate smoky aroma, lightly sweet molasses, hint of rye, very light hops, caramel malts. Taste is a touch more smoky than aroma would indicate, very nice indeed, light molasses and caramel, very light hops. Was perfect with my ribs.

Pretty nice beer that I picked up the other day from Star Liquor. Pours a dark reddish brown. Big tan head. Nose is pleasent. Smoke, black cherry and wood. Taste is pretty solid actually. Again that smoke comes through, conceals the booziness, little caramel finish.

A well done smoked beer. Not at all over the top, you can still get a good backbone of doppelbock along with all the smoke. Great balance all around and not nearly as one dimensional as most smoked beers. A decent doppelbock in it's own right as well, worth the try if you have the chance.

Bought in KC, at that place .. . Pours a very deep tan, low foam .. . wet wood, smoke, burnt pork skin, charred dog hair and a good bit of liquid smoke .. . light molasses too, really goes nicely with some cheese! .. . quite a good dose of smoke, which i like but the mouth is a touch off .. . Happy to have tried it .. . . It's just a little airborne! It's still good, it's still good!
