Rich imported malts are dominated by our Bamberg smoked malted barley as well as Wisconsin rye. Special Bavarian Weiss beer yeast was imported to ferment this beer in the bottle. This is a big, dark beer appropriate for lying down or drinking immediately.

Poured a hazy orange color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, light rye graininess, with some sweet caramel as well. Taste was quite oxidized, with some sweet honey, light toffee, with some citrus, and faint smoke, with a dry finish. Alcohol was fairly well covered, the taste was just a bit funky.

New Glarus does it again! What a wonderful change frfom the ordinary. There is a wonderful bouquet of smoked ham when poured. The settling is abrupt, but the color is a beautiful amber. This ale has a sweet, nutty, smoky finish that would compliment creamy an soft cheeses, light fish, or a piece of good rye bread with butter. Wonderful!!

Shared this with tjthresh at our totally sweet weekend in OFallon. Subtle maple-esque woodiness behind the touch of smoke. I love the oily rye mouthfeel and golden brew with eggshell cap of head. A very nice beer.

12 oz botle. Pleasant smokey aroma. Some sulfur. Light cherry. Miabock apperance. Tiny bubbles. White head with some lacing. Golden syrup. Notes of maple, spice, and smoke. Very sweet. Full bodied sticky and slick. Very Good. The 12% alcohol is not noticeable at all.

Medium orange body with a hint of red. The aroma is light smoke with some green beans and a little bit of grass. There is also some apple in the background. The taste has an interesting mix of smoke and sweet pears. There is also honey. This is almost like drinking good barbecue sauce. The mouthfeel is thick and sticky. Certainly an interesting smoked beer.
