The brown ale base, complex in itself , with the addition of raspberries both as a seasoning and a further fermentation, produces a beer with exceptional depth of flavor. Use of authentic fruit leads to a ripe seductiveness all the more alluring as the delicate notes are not overpowered. Available Thanksgiving through the holiday season.

Comes out of the tap a barely translucent mahogany with a thick, fine-bubbled, light tan head that leaves generous lacing. Strong aroma is mainly fruity, almost like a cider but with a malty and subtly spicy (mainly cloves) undertone. Fruity, powdery flavor has malty and yeasty notes plus earthy and spicy hints, the latter being cloves and cinnamon. The fruit component is mainly sour apple with an undertone of cherry. Firm texture has a rather subtle and not persistent fizz. Pucker up for this one!

Pours a reddish cooper color with a head that instantly dissapers. Malt is more noticeable than raspberry in the aroma. The mouthfeel is rich but man the raspberry flavor mixed with the malt is good.

Pours a a very dark red with a fluffy white head that takes its time all the way from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is of raspberries, what else? taste is certainly of raspberries and not much else. Overall a simply sweet and tart fruit beer that is pleasant to drink. I give fruit beer a little more credit than they diserve but this one is one of the better ones so far.

Nice clear deep ruby amber pour with a large-bubbled off white head which leaves a decent amount of lacing; some carbonation. Tart and sour raspberry aroma, light brown sugar and malts, more light berries, yeasts. Taste is also tart raspberry upfront, light though, then sour then sweet berries, followed by lightly sweet malts and very light brown sugar, with a tart yeasty lightly bitter finish and very light linger. Better as it warms.

First Bper to rate this for the season. That's right mofo's! Pours a cloudy strawberry colour, not much froth. Taste is delectable. Interesting combo of raspberry and caramel that's entirely enjoyable. Not fancy by any means, but substantial enough that I would try it again.

Bought a sixer on a whim and was surprised by the result. A great fruit beer that is not overly sweet or tart. Smell of raspberries and the red/brown color was great. Flavor is raspberry but not too sweet. A really good beer!

It pours a dark burnt-orange/red with thick light-tan head and copious lacing. A malty and biscuity aroma with raspberries, faint hops, citrusy, and mild spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of malts/bread, light hops, citrus, raspberries, maybe blueberry, and a good mix of spices. Has a strong berry sting to it. Excellent!

I saw this one on the shelf at Top's Liquor in Tempe, AZ. This was one New Belgium product I've never had, so I had to pick up the bottle. I must say, well done product by New Belgium here on this one.
The head...oh yeah the head...was absolutely amazing. I poured out the beer into the pint glass and the head was nothing short of thick, lumpy, creamy and lightly tan in color. The head leaves behind some amazing lacing too. Full blown greatness here! The color, when held up to the light, has a wonderful clear dark ruby color to it. With no light it has a dark brown tint. The aroma was straight up raspberry, but not overly sweet. Totally solid!
I think this one is best drunk around 50 degrees and you get a wild rush of flavors. This is just what you'd expect....a nut brown with a splash of raspberry. I think the folks at New Belgium did a wonderful job of blending the nutty malts with a light, sweet raspberry flavoring. It is very smooth drinking...almost stout like with a velvety softness that gets the beer down easily.
Bottom line, I love this one and wish I could get some out east. Unfortunately I'll have to wait a bit and see what I can do about getting some of this back east when I go to Colorado this spring. -

Very nice aroma, raspberries of course, it wasnt in your face overwhelming, but very noticeable. The body was a deep dark brown that was almost black, with a reddish hue. Flavor was raspberries at first then a malty finish. Overall it was a pretty nice beer.

a little more tart than say...a Lost Coast Raspberry Brown, which is both good and bad. I think this beer is more complex (due to the secondary fermentation), but LC is richer. Overall, this was a pleasant, ruby-brown colored ale. Nice head retention, decent aroma, sweet mouthfeel and finish, but not overly so.
