Pours a foamy beige head and has a dark amber appearance with reddish highlights. Ok lacing. Aromas of light roasted malts, toasty, hints of caramel and molasses. Flavours of toasted and dark malts, light chocolate notes, plums, hints of caramel malts and molasses. Some earthy hops and a bit of raisins in the finish. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff, easy to drink brown ale, not too heavy.

A must try beer from a delightful little brewery in Neustadt Ontario Canada. This beer is heavy, dark, full bodied - can be a little musty, and, sadly, I have tasted residual yeast on a few samplings. To me it needs to be cold and goes particularly well with red meat, especially venison.

Pours a very dark brown with a slight red hue. Has a small tan head. Aroma is malty, grainy and has a hint of dark fruit. Taste grainy and malty. Smooth low carbonated mouthfeel is medium to thin. Almost no lacing.

Can: Poured a light dark ale with a small foamy head with minimum retention and lacing. Aroma consists of lightly roasted malt with little else noticeable. Taste is also dominated by some light roasted malt with some even lighter caramel note. I thought this was way too watery and thin to be truly interesting.

I'm not sure where Neustadt is, but they better ger a decent brewmaster up there soon because this is one of the worst brown ales I have ever tasted. IT's dark brown all right, but the malt is grainy as opposed to nutty, and the hoppish presence is a bit low. The flavour was slightly watery further weakening an already weak beer.

The beer poured a slightly translucent dark brown (when held to the light) with a thin tan head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was heavily roasted malt, some sweet malt, and some grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and a little bit of carbonation. The flavour has some roasted malt flavours, some sourness, and some sweet tones.

Bought this one on my trip to Toronto, as we cannot get this one in the Ottawa LCBOs. First tried the night Detroit got eliminated, and the Ducks went on to the Cup. Was in my hotel room, and found it nicely bitter from the bottle. Now, back home. And with a proper glass. Pours a brown colour with red highlights. Its head is tanned, creamy, with nice retention and beautiful lacing all around. Moderate carbonation. The nose is very malty with grain, and after breathing a bit, dark fruit and nuts stand out. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, a little oily as the name refers to. The nutty dark fruit is present in the taste, with a clean bitter finish, but not too long. Some caramel notes too appear. Pretty decent beer, and a good one as my first Neustadt Springs Brewery experience.

The nose on this beer filled the room when I poured it - a very nice roasted malt aroma with hints of sweet caramels. Dark brown colour with some tan head floating on top. Semi-opaque. The taste is very nice, heavy on the dark roasted malts and grains throughout, starting slightly sweet and finishing with a moderate hop bite. The whole flavour stays on the tongue until the next sip. Mouthfeel is kinda flat on the body with some slight carbonation tingle on the finish, but washes down filling.

I had no idea what to expect with this one and am thoroughly happy with it. I will be purchasing this again soon.

I like this brewery and I feel I owe this one more chance. It was certainly different and I would be only acting immature to say it tasted like 10w30, but I might of detected some. Kidding of course, however I did find the flavour a little off-putting. Dido for the aroma. Came across to me as a old-ale style brown ale with some, other stuff? Well balanced but kind of a mix and match beer. Hops didn't quite fit the malt, mouthfeel didn't quite fit the hops...this is why I'd like to give this another try. This could be something special, but from my sampling, I didn't think it was much at all of anything... or just parts of everthing.
    Will sample again.
