While the legend of Mad Tom is laden with mystery and intrigue, one thing remains clear - Mad Tom did things his own way. Twice as Mad Tom is an aggressively twice dry-hopped Imperial India Pale Ale, that delivers a definitive hop aroma and unabashedly big bold flavor. We brew this beer with the road less traveled in mind, and in the spirit of old Mad Tom, we make no bones about it.

From Clover Crossing, in a mere 12-ouncer. Clear orange pour under a creamy ivory head. Aroma was generously hopped, along with citrus (grapefruit) and some caramel, but I wasn't getting any pine. Nice flavour, with lots of hops and malt, plus the grapefruit. Bitter finish and a solid mouthfeel. Very satisfying.

I always sample my brews in two ways - first straight out of the can/bottle, then out of the proper glass. I do this because most beers taste very different from bottle/can to glass and find that some are better off never being poured. So it's with that in mind that I give the Aroma out of the bottle a 10. It was like walking through a pine forest, yet when poured, it lost alot of that smell but brought out a caramel like smell, which I gave a 7. So the 8 splits the difference. A very nice amber/ochre colour with a one and a half finger cap. For some reason, I find the taste of this beer way more subtle and enjoyable than the regular Mad Tom's, and I would drink this quite frequently if it were more readily available. Out of the glass, it kind of reminded after awhile of draught version Smithwicks, only better.

Bought a 4-pack. Beer pours a translucent golden-amber with a half inch light tan head. Aroma is grapefruity hops, caramel, a pine. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is grapefruit, caramel, and some yeasty notes. Very enjoyable. -

Acquired from trade with Chopz. :) Pours a dark golden amber colour, with a nice finger thick creamy head. Good lacing and retention. Huge hoppy citrus aromas right in your face. Nice floral hop notes. Has a very hoppy flavour, pretty strong, with some malts but much less distinct. Hops are what it's about. Very tasty and mostly just a tad hoppier than the Mad Tom. A bit bitter on the palate, but not in a bad way. Quite refreshing and the alcohol is well hidden. Thank you Muskoka! love it.

Pours a light copper colour with a small white head which slicks to the side of the glass. Pine and citrus aroma. Huge flavour. Grapefruit ,pine, lemon. Light malt flavour keeps it all together. Slightly carbonated, smooth and creamy, coats the palate. Great stuff. This one could definitely make you late for work.

Bottle, racked 2 weeks ago – decants a hazey gold ale with a 2 finger sticky meringue cap. Modest carbonation. Wonderful floral-citrus aroma with sweet malt undertones. Medium bodied, hoppy character. Flavor is all Mad Tom – big malts big hops in almost perfect balance until the long wet finish where the hops slowly bitter to a real decent hop bite at the end. A decent impy IPA, hope it’s available all year. Smash Bomb has a rival!

Purchased a 4-pack of the newbie at the LCBO. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with a frothy off-white head that lasts a while and gives out lots of dirty lace. Big fresh hoppy nose with grapefruit and pine needles present, but better balanced with the sweet malt and alcohol. The alcohol though, does not burn anywhere, just barely warming up the throat. Nice smooth bitterness, again, all well-blended between the hop and malt grain for flavours. A really beautiful Imperial IPA that is well-rounded, without having anything stick out too much.
