With a name like "Special Ops" one could reasonably expect this beer to be rather hardcore and extreme and balls-to-the-wall (much like it's militaristic namesake). But no, if anything, this would have more in common with the Cub Scouts than the Army Rangers!

Not that it's such a bad thing that this isn't an extreme Pale Ale. Mobile AL isn't used to have much in the way of hoppy beers -- and this could make for an interesting "gateway" beer for folks to ween themselves to.

Nice reddish/amber body with thick lacing..., and a rather appealing hoppy (Cascade) aroma. Basic and workmanlike flavor profile, with the Cluster and Columbus hops easy to pick out. Not too challenging, but a decent enough drop.

My only qualm with this beer is with the malt-bill -- and how it relates to the mouthfeel. A bit too thin and lifeless in the mouth. I wouldn't say "watery", but..., at the same time, this isn't flling enough to really satisfy IMO.

But this is quaffable enough, and I've surely had worse....
