My wife ordered the Moose's Tooth Raspberry Wheat when we visited Humpy's in Anchorage, AK the other night. I was able to snag a few swigs of it for the purpose of reviewing here. I must say this was a pretty well crafted raspberry wheat.

The beer pours out an amber color with a purple/red hue to it. It was cloudy and was oozing with nothing but sweet raspberry smells. There was very little in the way of head on this beer.

Flavorwise, it was smooth and sweet. As far as being a categorized as a "fruit lambic", I don't feel like that is a proper categorization of the beer, as I don't see it as a lambic. It is a beer first with fruit flavor added to it. Problem here is that the fruit used makes this a very sweet drink. Almost too sweet for my liking. Personally I prefer a brew with a hint of fruit in it. If I want true sweetness, I'll go for a Belgian style lambic.

Overall, this one is average and one for the masses. My wife liked it and on this evening, that is all that mattered.

Cloudy color darker than Ruby Red Grapefruit juice. Good raspberry aroma. Fruit is dominant in flavor. Wheat comes through nicely in the finish. Perhaps a touch medicinal.
