Just west of the Ottawa Brewpub is an area the locals refer to as Tunney's Pasture, named after an Irish cattle farmer who rented it in the 19th century. Tunney's Porter is a tip of the hat to the Irish immigrants who farmed the Ottawa Valley in the 1800s and the traditional brown porters they lovingly brought with them.

On tap, clean amber colour with a small beige head and decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, sweet grains and cereal notes. The taste is on the hoppy side with the grains lingering. Hints of burnt malts. A session porter with way more hops than usual for the style. This compensate for the low alcohol (like most sessions). Interesting to say the least.

Part of Brewpub mixed pack, Ottawa brewpub. Pours an average size foamy tan head and has a a dark amber appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of light roasted malt, hints of caramel and earth. Flavours are mild roasted malt, notes of earthy hops, hints of caramel and light coffee. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Decent enough.

The beer pours a translucent dark mahogany with a thin creamy off-white head which lasts a few minutes. The aroma is roasted malt, light coffee, light chocolate, and earthy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is light coffee, roasted malt, and weak chocolate and vanilla hints. Not bad for a ‘Session’ Porter.
