Another in the single hop series by mikkeller! Fully hoppy flavor that is a kinder and gentler variety. Warrior seems to be less complex than some of the other hops chronicled in the series, but worth the educational experience.

Sampled on 11/6/2010. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrus, malt, sweet and piney and herbal. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, touch of caramel. The hops are herbal and earthy with a little pine. Nice hints of orange and citrus. Good carbonation. Medium bitterness IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Aroma is strong and fairly hoppy with a firm fruity overtone that is mainly apple and grapefruit. It pours a nice clear orange-amber with a fine-bubbled and persistent head. Flavor is strongly hoppy with a firm fruity tone, again mainly grapefruit with a little apple. Texture is fairly tingly and edgy, leaving a hoppy and slightly sweet finish.

My favorite of the three I sampled. Cloudy orange colour with a smaller off white head. Aroma is fresh and fruity, grassy and fresh on hops. Flavours are smooth, yet chewy, astringent and well hopped. Generous amounts of citrus fruits, candi sugar and pepper all around. Great beer and can't wait to try it again!

Bottle: Poured a light bright orangey color ale with a super large foamy head with good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma of floral green hops is pretty interesting with some neutral malt. Taste is also very much floral with a nice malt backbone and some light astringent hoppy finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation and of apparent alcohol. Very interesting experiment and very glad to have discovered this nice variety of hops with minimal bitterness and maximal floral notes.

Bottled@Sorbon, Brommaplan, Stockholm. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is brutal US hops along with some dark berries. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight tropical fruityness in it. Big hopbomb.

Bottle from SL. The pour was deep full bodied orange, generous, but typical IPA-head and lacing. The aroma was juicy oranges, some caramel, other citrus. The flavor followed the aroma, rich malty caramel and orange, finishing with a bitter earthy/herbal hop bite and even a touch of grains. This was a big and robust malt-hop strong beer with both making assertive statements. Body was full with standard levels of carbonation. Enjoyable, reminded me of my Nugget Nectar a bit.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Some sediment in the bottle. Deep golden to orange colour, slightly hazy. Big and lasting off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Warrior hops, not quite as strong hop aroma as in the Cascade Single Hop IPA, but nice, with some complexity. Notes of various fruits (incl. citrus) and mild spices. The flavour lets first some cara-crystal malts come through with a moderate sweetness, then the hops take over with notes of citrus, herbs, spices and some resin. A firm and peppery bitterness in the finish, but not overdone. I’d say this is a fairly well balanced IPA, and it has certainly made me interested in using the Warrior hop variety in homebrew.

Pours out in a hazy pale amber colour with dense frothy white foam. Grass, orange-peels, salt, and grapefruit in the aroma. Medium-bodied with notes of grass, metal, caramel and bloodgrape. Grassy bitter finish of touches of orange-peels, pine-needles Not bad but I certainly expected more, felt a bit old and stale and lacking some freshness.
