Fruitier than expected. Pretty nice balance on this one, with the flavor ever so slightly overperforming the aroma. Had this last week - had the Russian River Simcoe pale ale last night...while I prefer the RR, due to the fact it showcases the hop better...this was nice too.

Looks like beer! Killer aroma!! Big fuzzy peach candy, slight notes of gum, leather...but mostly just a big peach hop bomb. Taste is the same but not as epic. Big peachy flavor with a flavorful but watery quality. Leathery bitter finish with a dusty after taste. Brew started off strong and thick but seems to be thinning the longer I drink. Just hit a flavor that reminded me of tomato soup but taste nothing like it if that makes any sense? Good IPA but not my favorite of the single hop series.

I picked this beer up at the Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, Va. I was surprised mostly by the flavor of this beer. The flavor is neither citrus nor pine - it's a hop profile of it's own. Sort of tastes like grass and straw. It was good but I won't try it again as I prefer centennial, chinook, and citra hops.

    11.2oz bottle -

Huge onslaught of resiny hop goodness, both in the flavor and a ton of pine in the aroma. It manages to be both floral and piney at the same time. Low-medium sweetness helps accentuate some of the hops flavors that really vary during the entire beer. I can really see this going down really well time after time.

Draft into a snifter at Teresa's Pours a orange amber with a small head which dissolved into a film. Lacing was thin but lasting. Nose is hops, grassiness, very floral and a little funky? Taste was slightly bitter, tropical citrus and some sweet caramel-like undertones. Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation and some rough graininess that was a surprise. While I liked this beer, even at it's reasonable ABV I couldn't session it. Not sure if it's the simcoe but it just tires me enough to want to move on.

Ahh, the final of the triune of Mikkeller single hop brews I sampled that night. Bright and citrusy. Grapefruit, lemons and ginger for the flavours. Cloudy again, slightly boozy with a bright amber hue. Aroma is fresh, fruity, tropical and piney- all that good stuff you would expect. What a great night!

330 ml bottle, as Mikkeller Simcoe Single Hop IPA, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.9%. Orange colour, big off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Simcoe hops, notes of tropical frruits, grapefruit and pine. The flavour has distinct hops throughout, piney and grapefruity notes, fairly dry.

Sampled on 3/25/2009. This IPA pours a slightly cloudy medium orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with good lacing and nice retention. The aroma is piney and grapefruity. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet, with lots of pineapple and peach flavors. The hops are grapefruity. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Very clean and crisp hop bitterness. Nice beer. I wonder if there will be a single hop sampler 6-pack? Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Draught@EBF2008 (as Mikkeller Single Hop Simcoe IPA). Golden colour, small head. Aroma is apricot, some yeast and grass. Flavour is quite much the same. Wellbalanced.
