An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Pours clear caramel with a nice parchment head. Aroma yields sweet, toasty malt and caramel. Flavor produces caramel, toasty malt and resiny hops. Texture supplies fair body & peppy fizz. Give some fluid to your druid.

From Premier Gourmet, in a bomber. Dark orange with haze under an enduring creamy tan head, with some lacing. Great aroma, malt, hop and alcohol. Taste was also malt, hop, and alcohol plus some dark fruits. Robust yet smooth mouthfeel. Sweet yet not too sweet finish.

Pours a dark orange with a lingering white head. Aroma is grapefruity but not overwhelming. As the beer warms, I can smell the alcohol. Taste is well balanced--definitely some serious bitterness but also a good malt backbone and finishes with a fruity kick. Very good barleywine.

Beer poured with the look of a not so cloudy apple cider with fluffy head. A piney aroma was present, but not overwhelming. The flavor tasted like a watered down version of Old Ruffian from Great Divide...piney but not that piney...hoppy but not that hoppy and maybe a little bit of sweetness in there from the malts if you concentrate enough. Overall, it was a subdued mild barleywine which there's nothing wrong with, just a little weak in every way. If there was a "session barleywine", this could be it.

This is a deep amber with a good head. It is a little bit thin on the flavor, but it has a fruity finish.

Bottle: Poured a copper-brown color ale with a medium dark head with excellent retention. Aroma of strong malty sweetness with subtle alcohol notes is clearly evident. Taste has a real creamy feel to it with some malt but everything seems to be covered by strong bitter hops. Body is full and even though taste has a warming feel to it you cannot detect the alcohol. Good barleywine overall but I guess I prefer them without too many hops and more malt presence or again maybe I should have aged the bottle a bit more.

Orange gold color. Medium head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, touches of orange, banana and clove. A medium to full bodied barley wine. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and piney. Nicely balanced. Very smooth taste. Very little alcohol presence. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is smooth and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Nice beer. Thanks again Dr Bill

There's a lot of bitter in this one. As others have noted, grapefruit flavors dominate. I have a Friggin' grapefruit tree. If I want grapefruit juice, I can squeeze it fresh!! This tastes almost like a mediocre west coast IPA. It's nice, but not a barleywine, from my tastebuds POV.

Clear orange with a nice white head. Spicey hop aroma. Nice sticky malt flavor. Really enjoyable beer. Good barleywine.

The aroma is very strong with hints of figs, raisins, and spices with even some hoppy character and very floral. The appearance is a hazy bronze or light-brown with overtones of orange with a full, off-white, creamy head that sticks to the glass and remains. The mouthfeel is full and very complex with well-balance with no hint of alcohol. The flavor is strong and full of spice and raisins with complex figs turning into a dry floral taste with a strong but pleasing finish. Overall, an excellent barleywine with good balance that covers the alcohol dryness well. This is one of my favorites so far.
