Pours an opaque black. Very thick light brown head tops this one. Retention is impressive and lacing is just so so. Smell is coffee, bakers chocolate, slight vinious qualities, and just a hint of smoked malts. Not much fruit in this one, but it still smells pretty damn good. Taste is espresso, dark chocolate, very slight smoky character. A little yeastie character and just a bit of port wine. Hops are present, but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel is nice. Carbonation is nice, not slick or oily at all. Overall, an excellent Imperial Stout. I would recommend it to anyone. The only reason the drinkability suffers a bit is because this is a fairly heavy flavored beer and I just don't think you could drink more than one in a night...it sure would be fun to try though.

KSBF07 bottle. Poured typical dark brown-black with a tannish colored head, ample retention. Aroma was chocolate and a light piney hop touch. The flavor was full roasted chocolate and grains, some dark fruit or vinousy type notes, all with a bit of bitterness, followed by a zingy hoppy (pine) finish, resulting from a nice carbonated-hoppy combo. Mouthfeel, again, had some light zing crispness, not syrupy or hot, a nice little brew.

Man! What kind of douche nozzle helped brew this cluster fuck? Complete and absolute piece of shit. Now that I got that out of my system. Decent brew. Deep black brew with a thick dollop of tan head. I think the head is due to the over carbonation(imo). Fizzy body detracts from a less then stellar offering. If this had been presented as a different style it probably would have rated higher.

Pours with a black body topped by a thick, brown head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly bitter wtih a very slight sweetness, a touch of licorice and a touch of chocolate. The flavor is slightly sweet and slightly roasty wtih a nice mocha note and a touch of licorice. Full bodied, slightly tingly and a touch warming.

Kennett Fest. Jet black color with chocolate, coffee and sweet candied sugar. Taste is sweet with more of the same as above with a nice hop bite. Rich chocolate, currant and warming alcohol blend nicely.

GABF2004... Poured an opaque black color with a medium tan head. Aroma of nuts, roast, sweet fudge/chocolate. Taste of sweet chocolate, roast and more nuts. Alcohol was nicely hidden. A nice, non-bourbon aged Imperial Stout at a festival full of beers named Woody. "Everyones got a woody!"
