"Hefe" means "Yeast" in German. This version of wheat beer is unfiltered. The yeast is rich in vitamin B and rounds out the flavor of the beer.

another decent but not standout beer in Marin's line-up. the usual suspects here...light clove, banana, bubble gum. maybe a touch too light. I'd order on a hot day, but they usually have something better to offer.

I hope that future beers from Marin will be more enjoyable than this beer, as it was simply not very enjoyable. To start, I barely poured it into my hefe glass when foam just erupted everywhere. I realize that there would be some foam, but damn! Once things settled down and I could get a good bearing on the nose, it was slightly below average. There were some notes of hops and wheat going about but it was very minimal. Appearance was a nice hazy bright yellow color with nice lines of carbonation floating about. Mouthfeel was very harsh. So much so that it was mouthwash like, very astringent. Flavors didn't carry the fruity esthers I like to find in my hefe's, but it did carry a definite spicy profile. Overall, if you could get past the eruption of foam I still wouldn't recommend this. Compared to some of the wheats you can find in the market, this really doesn't match up well at all.

Purchased this beer prior to a trip to tahoe and we forgot about it and let it sit in the fridge for two weeks. Great decision as they label the beer as a live beer! When we opened it two weeks later it was probably one of the best beers we had ever had. Tons of flavor and aroma and just an all around great beer.

Light gold color, very large head. Aroma is slightly malty. A medium bodied hefe. Lightly malty and somewhat hop spicy. Not you’re typical wheat beer, only a very slight banana and clove taste thing going on in this beer. It much hoppy and spicier than a typical hefe. It could be that this bottle is a little old as the flavors are a little harsh. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
