MacLay's Traditional Pale Ale

355 ml silver can. In small letters on the front, the "Thistle Brewery", but the side label says Sleeman Brewing, Dartmouth. Pours a pale, clear straw color, a small white head that quickly shrinks to a thin cap, then disappears altogether. The aroma is faint corn and grain, not really 'pale ale'. Should have known better than to expect a 'Traditional Pale Ale' as per the label. Lacks flavor, just another macro lager taste. Pretty disappointing, for the style.

THis is pure unadulterated swill. S-W-I-L-L. It's as clear a gold as gold can be. The generous fluffy head disappears quickly. The nose and tongue sense nothing but grass. Junk. Stay away!

The beer poured a translucent pale yellow colour with a very generous white bubbly head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was weakly grainy malt with no other noticable odours. The mouthfeel was weak-bodied, watery, with a lot of carbonation. The flavour was pretty skunky, with an acidic bitterness and not much else. The beer went down faster than a glass of orange Kool-Aid.

No malt, all corn and adjuncts...do yourself a favour and stay away from this, unless you want to get smashed on some beer flavoured water! But ive had worse.

Refreshing and that's all...At least a good start but a bit boring no character i would say...You expect from a Pale Ale a good malt base and a hoppy angle,but no way Jose !!!It's too conservative more of a Pale Lager from east Europe...At least the price is cheap at $2:00 for 500 ml.

Can: Poured a golden color ale with a huge foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of light semi-sweet malt with no discernable hops presence. Taste is also dominated by somewhat refreshing semi-sweet malt. No noticeable extract or adjunct was noticeable which is already a good start from a somewhat shady brewer. Overall, I thought this was a refreshing beer but still lacking in character to make me want and seek this again.

Not exactly what i had in mind as an EPA. pours a Light straw colour, with no head. small traces of lacing. Slightly watery, faint aromas of lemon and a prevalent malted backbone.

Dont let the Clan Crest and Scottish Flag fool you, this is a Sleemans product!!!!, I think its kinda shameful that you have to look quite hard to find the Sleemans name, almost verges on false advertising. That being said, its a rather plane imitation of a scottish ale. A little tart, with no head and little carbination. Mediocre

Poured a tiny head and had an unimpressive light gold colour. Very little bubbs. Smells was on the weak side, but not bad at all...a pretty standard Canadian brew odor - malts, grains and some fruity undertones. Tasted pretty good, nothing special though. Too bad about it being a tad too far on the sweet side. Comes across thin and on the flat side. Minor bitterness. Drinkable, better than alot out there, but overall it's boring

I guess it's like Keith's, but a little different. I can't quite explain, but I'd take a Keith's over this. Still, this wasn't bad, despite the low rating. when poured into the glass, it looks more like a pale lager, or apple juice, with no head at all. There also isn't much of an aroma, unless you count water as a smell. Final grade: C
