Im currenty in Puerto Vallarta Mx and found 2 beers I've never had before, both dark offerings. One is this one and the other Bohemia Obscura. I'll try to add areview of both but long storey short the Dark Bohemia is a much better beer. But as to this one, this is a lager which is fairly similar to many generic offerings from Mx, that is the aroma is of grain and adjuncts, no significant roasted malt and very little hops on the nose. The taste is actually better with a slight malty sweetness and very dry finish with slight hops bitterness. The flavor doesn't improve with warmer temp tho and should be drunk quite cold. The appearance is quite nice, light browm, and the mouthfeel much better than average Mx lager. I would pick this over most Mx beers but its not the top choice.

Looks dark, but tastes like a lager. When the weather hot and the Leon is icy cold, it is hard to not drink the whole thing down. Hard to find outside of the Yucatan Peninsula. I lived there for 5 years and Leon is about all I drank. Of course my choices were usually Corona (tasteless) or Sol (Corona with salt added). Thank God for Leon. Get it while you can though, because it is dying out in the Yucatan too. The locals don't like it much, and they closed the Merida brewery. It is now only brewed in Villahermosa, Tabasco.

A nice dark beer without the heaviness. Tastes even better ice cold. It's the first beer I ask for when ordering in Mexico. I wish it was available here in the states.

one of the best mexican dark beers, not so heavy and great for drink large quantities,i´m an amatuer but I really liked, better if it is very cold. Great taste, forget coronas and pacificos if you come to Mexico is a must to drink it. Now you almost find it in all cities in Mexico

Veyr nice in flavour for being a dark lager, or a Viena?, Who knows. but this kind of beers is very famous in Mexico. The malty flavour is nice and not too hoppy. Another beer from Cerveceria Yucateca which has disapeared.

Light bodied, pours a clear reddish brown colour, virtually no head, traces of scattered white lacing. Taste is a little watery, overall this beer is refreshing, and ive enjoyed it on several occasions in Mex.

This was a nice beer. Better than most Mexican beers. It had a nice color and a crisp smooth flavor. It went down great on a warm evening in Cozumel. I would definitely go for this one again.

Pours a nice, dark amber with perfect clarity and a short head. The aroma is light, featuring toasted malt balanced by a hint of fresh-cut grass. The flavor boasts soft malts that finish dry, no notable sweetness. Light-bodied and gently creamy with moderate carbonation. Good, but I prefer the dark Modelo.

Sampled from bottle. Pours a clear amber with a scattered white head. Aroma is very clean with some sourness. I was really hoping for a boquet of vienna malts, but it didn't happen for me. Flavor is slightly bitter with a clean finish. Toasted malts dominate, but there may be a hint of citrus-like hops in the flavor as well. Lightbodied, well carbonated and very drinkable. A good beer to drink while in Mexico (55 cents for this sample), but hardly worth importing.
