This did not leave much of an impression on me. The head was rather thin. The color was a bit lighter than I would expect from a Dunkel. The flavor was slightly sweet but mostly kind of sharp. Sort of missed the mark on this one.

They need to keep this one around all year. This has a beautiful dark color, and a nice subtle scent of vanilla. The flavor was less subtle as the vanilla and the chocolate malts blend to create a rich smooth taste.

A good effort by New Belgium. Pours a very dark brown much like a porter. The taste is a bit lighter than a standard porter though. More like a schwartbier with a little less complexity in the flavor.

Poured beautifully. Deep dark brown with a chocolate head. Taste was very complex with chocolate coffee flavor underlined with oak. Finishes with a slight hint of the alcohol. Overall a pretty good effort.

This poured a nice reddish brown. There was not much of an aroma to it. The flavor was pretty standard for a winter brew. Very drinkable but there are others that are better.
