The 2005 edition of our Winter Seasonal boasts more chocolate malt than previous years. Along with the chocolate malt, the addition of several other malts adds a bit more body to this year version and makes for a drier beer.

Pours used motor oil black with a lilty offwhite head. Nice lacing as you go. Aroma of burning coffee, obvious chocolate taste, but a bit...powdered chalk cocoa tasting, followed by burnt malt. It's fine but having had so many others that are better it's hard to justify buying again, except maybe for the price point.

Poured a dark brown / black / crimson color with a light tan head, that also left fairly nice lacing on the glass. Wet cardboard, and an artificial cocoa aroma. Taste of artificial chocolate, light burnt malts, and finished with a light sourness.
