A wickedly tasty red ale packed with a massive hop flavor and full aroma from dry-hopping with whole flowers. Specially brewed with all European malts and West Coast whole flower hops. The result - a rich ruby red color, lacy collar and a feast of hop aroma!

Nice coppery pour with tons of lacing. The flavor reminds me of grapefruit, plenty tart but not quite enough sweetness to balance it. I love hoppy beer, but for some reason this one just seems a bit bitter to me. still a worthy ale, tho.

This beer pours a pleasent copper body with a full white head. A pleasent aroma with caramel and pine, plenty of hops and sweet like. Has higher IBUs which I definately enjoyed. an excellent brew with a plentiful mouthfeel.

A bit weak for a strong ale, but a good crisp pale ale. Red pour with nice frothy head and good lacing. Flavor was sweet, but with a crisp citrus kick in the pants. Smooth mouthfeel, rich and full. Good one.

This is a fine beer! Perhaps more like an IPA than a strong ale, but emminently drinkable. Deep copper hue with ruby flashes in the light, producing a billowy profusion of lasting head with copious lacing. Fragrance is richly floral, mouthfeel full-bodied and balanced. Flavor is intensely hopped (Cascades?) and finishes with exquisite bitterness. By the way, it ages very nicely (this one was bottled in Feb '06), and my last remaining boggle will be put up in storage for a while longer before I finally drain it (alas, it's not available here in Milwaukee as of yet, but next drive back east, I'll be sure to pick up some more.)

How about that label on the tap? On tap at the Bocktown in the Robinson shopping complex, nice place. This beer pours hazy brownish orange. There is an alabaster head that finally fades to a froth. I must admit up front that I am not a fan of american strong ales. They remind me too much of IPA. Floral sweet hoppy aroma. Very hoppy primordial taste, hops hops and more hops. Are we sure this is not an IPA? Quite citrus peel bitter, like grapefruit peel mostly. Cannot taste anything but excruciating hops. Must be a double IPA. Hop wallop after hop wallop. Now my mouth is coated with this bitter stuff, almost as bad as the worst hop acridness I’ve had. This bitter concoction makes me need a glass of water to rinse with. However, it’s curiously odd that it does not induce the gag reflex and remains interesting. The terrible citrus better complexities last and last (and last...continued). Overall, too big of a beer flavor for me, not a session beer by my girlie bud standards. My uvula is crying for relief. Not a fan of ASA - non stop bitter linger for many minutes.

On draft at Four Dogs. Poured a amber color with some red hues, decent initial head that thinned to near nothing. Lacing decent. The aroma was lots of pine, floral, and caramel. The flavor was comparable, too much pine hops for me, citrus underplayed. Mouthfeel was standard for the style. Seemed more like an amber than an American pale. Was surprised to learn that it was 7%ABV.

[Cask] Poured a copper color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of nuts, citrus fruits, pine, caramel malts, and floral hops. Taste of vanilla, toffee malts, some buttercream, citrus fruits, and a bitter, grapefruit, dry finish.

Legacy Hedonism was a decent red ale from Reading PA. I had this on draught at Just Sports in Bristol, PA and it was not bad. It poured more of a golden color body with a smallish head, but the taste was initially sweet with a hoppy finish. Not bad.
