Since 1998, Brasserie Lefebvre’s brew masters have been cleverly blending white beer and apple juice. With its slightly cloudy yellow-white colour, Newton has a full, compact head. Its green apple aroma is accompanied by a hint of vanilla. The palate is soft and slightly sweet. It recalls the flavours of a white beer, topped with green apple notes which provide a freshness which is unusual in a beer of this type. The finish is short and without bitter aftertaste. Newton really is a unique and refreshing beer.

Bottled. Slightly hazy pale yellow colour with small white sparkling bubbly head that vanishes quite nice. Aroma is quite much green apples and some sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same. A rather sweet brew. Atleast it is refreshing on a hot summerday.

Came in a Brasserie Lefebvre 8-pack sampler at the SAQ. Says this beer contains 15% applejuice. Best before date written is L04012008. Pours a hazy beige-white-yellow colour looking like pear juice. Wow... great fruit smell (apples, pears), almost candyish. The head is white, slightly creamy and leaves good lacing, and a ring around. Tiny bubble carbonation that is nice and soft. The taste is pretty mild, but quite refreshing and delicious. Again, the apples and pears flavour mix well. Quite good (probably for summer), and too bad this one does not come at the SAQ as a regular brew. Recommended for those who like mild fruit beers.

Bottle: Poured a yellowish ale with some white hue and a medium bubbly head with limited retention. Aroma of apple doesn’t appear to be too faked though I suspect there is very little real apple in here as opposed to some artificial flavouring. Taste I refreshing with some apple sweetness and a good Belgian witbeer base. Definitely not a beer that I will be looking for again in the future but not as gross as some other fruit beer out there.

Pours with a very pale yellow body with little head yet some lacing. The aroma is loaded with sour apple notes. Smells like jolly rancher candy. The flavor is sweet and mediciney with a slight apple note. Not good. Light bodied, smooth and dry.
